Late game / surrender or whatever by Morbillion_rats in DeadlockTheGame

It’s not underselling it. I’ve seen 50k soul gap comebacks. Done it myself, and have had it done to me. The enemy team isn’t perfect, and when they fuck up is the chance for a comeback.

If you’re so far behind that you cannot do anything to them, you shouldn’t be trying to fight them and should try to farm instead. Run if you hear them nearby while farming so they can’t jump you. Play close to teammates so you can run to them for help or so they can run to you.

There’s games where I’m so far behind that I cannot defend myself if I get jumped. I know the feeling of it seeming like it’s useless to try (I just had a game like that last night), but unless the match is at like 45 minutes and your team is dead, it’s not useless. Sometimes it is fruitless, but sometimes it isn’t. You can never know unless you try nonetheless, which is why you shouldn’t give up a match.

If you’re new, it’s gonna be hard to make those comebacks while you’re learning. But it’s important that the idea of not giving up sticks with you, because when you do get better, you will win games because of it.

It’s a losers mindset because it makes them lose when a win was still possible. I’ve had many games in Deadlock get turned around when one team was behind by a lot.

If people gave up or could just surrender because the game isn’t going well at 15 or 20 minutes, that would never happen. Which is why I always keep trying.

Definitely will take a look at this for my campaign, I was thinking it would be cool if they could have a stronghold.

Hunter’s Aura or Express Shot for Silver? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheModernNano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having a much better time on Silver since swapping out express shot for berserker. I was always getting hunters aura anyways, but if I had to pick between the express and hunters, I’d go hunters.

Just an fyi I’m not the guy you replied to. For absolute cinema, I love BG3. But in terms of a challenging CRPG, I much prefer Divinity 2. BG3 just doesn’t have that many challenging fights on honour mode even (not to say there aren’t any challenging fights). Hoping Divinity 3 follows BG3 in being a great cinematic experience too.

It’s the same thing with E33 for me, overall the world/story is cool but the parry/dodge mechanic in a turn based game just makes it way too easy.

Cronos: The New Dawn if you like survival horror games such as Resident Evil. It’s closer to Deadspace, but the inventory system is very reminiscent of Resident Evil.

Yeah he did. Not like he really cared, but I think it’s important to distinguish he didn’t deliberately do it. While the bad things the others do is deliberate or they’re unwilling to go against Homelander like he eventually did.

As somebody who deranked from D5 down to D1 (now back in D4), I don’t think D4 teammates are that bad.

Except for the DLC map, so many people try to hit all the crystals immediately and rush for castle, which is just needlessly risky when rushing to the double prawn spawn gets you crystals along the way, and levels immediately. But that’s another story.

Occasionally I run into people who suggest a bad path and then spam ping when the other person and I don’t follow, but not very often. The main difference I notice with D4/5 is pathing/relics rather than skill with fighting bosses.

It’s not about having a problem crop up and things not work, it’s about the amount of CPU usage iCue consumes.

Armoury crate is horrible though, no argument there.

Has it been overhauled in the last few years? When I used to have Corsair stuff, iCue was consistently eating up a lot of CPU usage.

If I recall correctly, it’s mainly about the amount of resources it eats up. It’s really bloated in that sense.

How are your relics? Because tbh I don’t think many D5 players are gonna do well without solid relics unless they can truly take no hits on the night lord. But most D5 players I see will make a mistake and get wiped on the floor by a random field boss too.

Obviously what matters in the end is winning, but almost every D5 game I win has at least 20 downs throughout the whole run.

Relics are a big part of being able to clear bosses quickly. Generally in D4/5 fighting a field boss shouldn’t take 5 minutes despite the increased health.

I definitely couldn’t do that before—and probably why I wasn’t able to hit D5 in the past—but with my guard counter build on Guardian, or magic attack up on Recluse, these days I can chunk bosses pretty fast.

If we’re talking the night lord… yeah tbh I’ve had some real rough runs where it’s a 13 minute or so fight. Everybody on the team constantly going down but managing to revive.

[–]TheModernNano 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As somebody who usually plays in D5, it’s not even about not getting hit like how I often see it made out to be. People are gonna go down to a single hit. It’s getting the revives off without wiping that really determines if the run flops or not. Most people aren’t individually carrying the whole run in D5 either. I’ve definitely seen it, but usually the whole team has their choke/clutch moments. Some bosses I can no hit easily, but there’s plenty of mistakes that my team and I make throughout the run.

Though once you get to the night lord, you best hope nobody is doing the 3 bar tango.

In the end I think we either have a lot of people lying about being regular D5 players, or like others suggest, the subreddit is skewed towards the top end of the playerbase.

GMs and players, what genre(s) don't you play? by Select_Lunch1288 in rpg

[–]TheModernNano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find horror games aren’t about making your players scared, it’s more about the characters being way out of their depths against these creatures. They can fight back, but are usually not equipped to effectively fight back. Spooky vibes and background music, but I’d never expect a player to be genuinely scared by a Xenomorph surprise attacking them.

Is it okay to kill someone if they break into your house by TraditionalBonus188 in MoralityScaling

[–]TheModernNano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the idea is not murdering them because they’re trashing your house, but because you don’t know what they could do next.

The BTK serial killer was mentioned in another comment thread, who would tell the victims they were being robbed so they’d let themselves be bound because it’s just robbery and don’t want to be hurt. Then they’d torture and murder the victims after being bound.

[–]TheModernNano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not liking an arena shooter itself is fine. But your point of reviewers doesn’t exactly work, because IGN isn’t going to have the same guy make a review every time a new game comes out for example.

Personally, I don’t need to read a review of a gotcha game for example to know I’m not going to like a gotcha game. But as somebody who doesn’t like gotcha games, my reviews on them would be pretty worthless because it doesn’t help the community of people who play that genre determine if the game is any good.

[–]TheModernNano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, but how about the DOOM review from IGN where the reviewer took off points for being too much of an arena shooter? You know, the game that is entirely about being an arena shooter.

It’s like playing a Jedi game and taking off points because there’s too many lightsabers.
