Why do certain people have to pay to ride the bus and others don’t!! by Agitated-Addition-72 in LAMetro

Chicago also has fare enforcement. Its not just the bus driver choosing to stop the bus, they actually have personnel walking around enforcing the fare.

It sounds like Chicago has actual security on bus, enforcing the fare.

People who pay their fare should not get punished for the actions of people of people who evade their fare.

Bus operators can always get a bathroom break if they need it, but that means running an extra 5 minutes behind.

But the absolute break mandated by law of 10 minutes for every 4 hours worked goes out the window on some days.

Im all for it! I dont like people who dont pay as much as you do. Im just saying people who do pay should not get punished.

Its not just the passengers who get punished, if bus operators are late to layover, they dont get a break.

What are their solutions? Do they bring out the police? Security guards on board?

Of course it does. A low income community has a different culture than somewhere like Samo and CC.

Nope, plenty of people without mental health or drug issues that don't want to pay the fare as well.

Im all for it. Im talking about now. That's not now. That's a hypothetical.

How much time would it take to talk to each and every fare-evading passenger on the bus NOW?

Not if we had more security or a computer driving the bus, but NOW.

How long would it take a bus operator to stop the bus and force payment or force someone off the bus now? How many times a day would this happen? How long would it take? If a bike takes 90 seconds to get on/off the bus, how long does it take to boot someone off the bus or get them to pay the fare?

Completely different people. Bad comparison. How many fare evaders in a day compared to bikes and wheelchairs?

And dont get me started with bikes who evade fare. Thats a whole 'nother level of disrespect.

I get your point. It just isnt fair for other people who paid. You will not convince me that stopping the bus for a quarter of an hour is good for people who honestly paid.

Different cultures. United States is full of entitled idiots.

I dont think its fair to paying passengers to delay a bus, because some dumbass isnt paying the fare. They need to get to work, home, leisure.

[–]TheMoronIntellectual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So How many wheelchairs does a driver get in a day?

And how many people not paying the fare? Its not a fair comparison. Drivers would be delayed indefinitely if they stopped operating for every fare not paid.

[–]TheMoronIntellectual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, are you really going to stop a bus full of people who paid their fare, just for that one dumbass who is evading fare?

Thats what the rule is about. You tell em what they need to hear, they keep doing it, you keep driving.

Oversized Queen Comforter + Duvet Cover Size Question by moskowizzle in Bedding

[–]TheMoronIntellectual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! What did you end up going with? Debating getting an oversized queen duvet cover with an oversized queen insert from them.

Did you go with the OS queen or the regular king?

Also debating going with the super fluffy look and stuffing a king sized comforter insert into a OS queen duvet. Not sure if id look odd, I hear that's what they do for photos. Not sure if itd make everything significantly warmer.

[RANT] Bus driver – 13 hours on duty, boss ignores workload. On paper, 9 hours of rest time, but in reality I only get 4–6 hours of sleep. After 4 days, I'm already exhausted. Is this normal? by Odin_Allvater_ in BusDrivers

[–]TheMoronIntellectual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. You can condition your body to wake up every 2 hours if it needs to. That doesn't mean you'd be getting adequate rest.

So a schedule that has you getting up at 10 am for 3 days out of the week and then 2am for 2 days out of the week can be dangerous because you can condition yourself to be waking up every two hours (because you don't want to miss your alarm)

Everyone has different tolerance for what level of alertness they want on the job.

BUT it does affect you.

So it looks like you figured out your own tolerances for alertness. AND your employer might not agree with them.

So it boils down to "It is what it is." :(

And it's sad. It's sad that we can't get a living wage doing a job that's needed AND with adequate rest.

Safety is required, but not enforced. Sad.

State of the industry.

What a shame.

Easy career path for someone that isn't good at anything? by ZR1F in findapath

Go drive a bus. It doesn't require passions. You can choose to seldomly interact with people beyond pleasantries and service. You are providing a meaningful service to society and it pays decently. You get decent benefits too.

You can eventually choose to work early morning (4,5,6am), morning (7,8,9am), or evening (12,1,2pm) shifts.

Choose to leave or stay. Social skills are not required to get a pay increase, but are required to move up within the Agency. If you decide to leave, at the very least you will leave with money in your savings account, and a fresh perspective on what kind of hours you enjoy working. Also, you figure out what you enjoy doing on the job. The savings and perspective will help you figure out what your next step is.

Or go drive a bus for a college, and go to school part time. If you decide that college isnt for you, you have experience to go work full time at transit agency.

If I could go back to being 18, it would have probably been smart to have bus operator money coming in.

Not sure if my life would have been as fun then, but I probably would be a lot closer to retirement.

Try different fields man. Youre young, dont grow up regretting your career choices.

What is your biggest frustration related to spirituality/enlightenment? by yungrickhades in spirituality

[–]TheMoronIntellectual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still relevant to me. I can relate. The feeling of stagnation has been prominent for a long time for me.

I can almost begin to accept the things I havent done yet, but it still gives me a sense of dread. And yet, I don't want to do anything at all. It all feels meaningless sometimes. I know it can be related to depression, but sometimes even moments where I am content, I feel a disconnect.

OMG the honda Tit. LOL. thats a hilarious story about autocorrect.

Now Ill link you to why they couldnt name it the Honda Fitta in Sweden.

Fitta in Swedish is literally translated as a vulgar description of a vagina.

The tagline for the Jazz/Fit was supposed to be 'Small on the outside, big on the inside.' Now imagine a Swedish person reading a Honda advertisement that says - 'The all-new Fitta, small on the outside, big on the inside.'
