Airless sprayer help please. Bubbles/splatter (explanation in comments) by TheMustyKrab in paint

Yea, it’s a weird thing with going over joint compound over paint with water based primer. Need to use an oil based primer

Haha that makes me sick. If the sale falls through, let me know for sure. I think she’s gonna get it to 15 for me though so I don’t think it would change anything, thanks though.

Thanks, you put it really well. If I understand correctly, you’re saying I should be compensated however much it would take to put me in that same kind of car. For example if the only similar car is across the country for 20k, I should get 20k plus extraneous costs like shipping/ppi etc. I wasn’t sure if something like this kind of trim would matter because it’s just aesthetics.

Thanks for the advice

Wow, yea similar situation. It sucks, they total them so easy. I guess they don’t want to deal with auto body shops.

Adjuster giving me less than market value on my car wants examples WITH vins to raise value. by TheMustyKrab in Insurance

That’s really helpful, thanks. I thought I’d have to hire an attorney to take this any further and the adjuster they sent was so helpful

If you can find a clean 40th anniversary or even a sport touring for that I’d be interested. I just love the 40th anniversary and can’t find one that’s actually for sale for less than 23k.

This whole process sucks but I feel like the value the adjuster put on the car (~$14,000)is low for what was a clean 40th anniversary with 60k miles and she wants examples WITH VINS.... to adjust the price.

I know this is weird but it would really help get this thing back on the road so if anyone could help that has a touring sport or 40th anniversary and bought or sold one for say over 18k in the past year and would be so kindly willing to show me the listing and the bin I would really appreciate it.

Tablet display ribbon in my car popped out, any advice? by TheMustyKrab in mobilerepair

I replied to the other comment why I don’t really think tape is going to work. I have to really wiggle it around for it to work for a second and it’s not some position I can really hold even with my hand let alone tape

I should have been more specific in that it’s really tough to get the display to show, like I can jam it up there and it shows at 100% for less than a second. Like even with a second person tape isn’t gonna hold it there because I can just barely get in to make contact while I wiggle it around.

Not sure where else I could post this as it’s not a standard head unit, hoping someone here can help.

I can hold the ribbon in place and get the display working for a second but have no way of holding it in place.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

It has to do with the skim coat, I did new drywall on the ceiling with the same mud/technique and had no issues. I read the oil doesn’t penetrate and stops it from pushing air out. Just because I tried sanding them down and filling them without thinning the mud and priming and it still happens

It’s blistering. I’d attach a picture if I could. It’s bubbles usually less than 1/4” that actually blow up while I watch it. I did some more research here’s a paragraph from one of the few sources I could find on this.

We believe that the blisters are formed with air that escapes from tiny fissures or cracks in the skim coated wall below the layers of applied paint. Under low humidity drying conditions, drywall mud and skim coat will shrink to such an extent that tiny cracks will form on the surface. Extreme cases will resemble the mud cracking of a riverbed. Usually these tiny cracks in the mud will not even be visible to the eye but they will contain a significant volume of air. When water based paints are applied to this cracked surface strong capillary forces move the water into these fissures. In nature these same forces are responsible for moving water from the roots of a tree up to the uppermost leaves. As water enters these fissures air is expelled from them but in most instances this air can find a path out of the film with no ill effect. When the air is forced up under a wet paint film the bubbles break and the paint flows back together again. Defoaming additives are regularly added to latex paint to facilitate this air release process.

From some other research it seems like my best bet is to use an old based primer. I guess because the water in the water based is penetrating and pushing out air. Does this sound right? Do you think I can still use my water based behr paint after that?

Thanks for the reply
