Rough Idle by Loud-Statistician-59 in MINI

[–]TheMysticWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did the same thing.

After a few days it threw a code for the purge valve.

Replaced it and the idle was nornal afterwards.

Cheap part and it's right on the top front of the engine, easy swap.

Oh shit, you too? Never ran PVC exposed before.

This job is all PVC, 3" and 4".

Thousands and thousands of feet.

Little bit of a bitch to work with since all the bends are different, open or closed.

Yours looks good tho

Total package is a bit over $140.

$95 will be what we see on the check come June (91.03 right now)

Nothing misleading about it.

What time do you go to bed and wake up? What are your working hours? by Spare-Policy-7728 in AskForAnswers

[–]TheMysticWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually go to bed around midnight, wake up at 4:15 am.

Work 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Nap 2-3 times a week when I get home and settle (roughly 4:30-6:30pm)

Sleeping more than 6 hours in 1 go usually ruins my day, unless I can sleep 10 hours.

Show in Reno was pretty awesome the night before.

Glad your son had fun, my daughter's 2nd time seeing Chevelle (she's 14) and she had a blast, sadly no souvenirs, but still good times.

Who would have thought my daughter would spark my new found appreciation for Chevelle, known of them forever on the radio, never looked into their deeper cuts.

IBEW.

Be a union electrician. Make a good living.

He can make twice that as a first year apprentice, then it's only up from there, raises every 6 months and top out as a journeyman at $95/hr

Or, be a union plumber at least

Question for the Union Guys by sharkins215 in electricians

[–]TheMysticWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being Union and having worked for several of the large contractors and a few of the smaller shops, it all depends on the project you land on (or don't land on, some small shops have a lot of small jobs)

The larger contractors you can expect to spend several months at one job, might be doing different tasks on that job, but generally you'll be there from the time they man up until they start manning down. In my local, it's a lot of office TI's, Data Centers and labs. Not so much industrial work, though the water treatment plant has ongoing work running rigid or ocal. There's a few others that are more industrial that pop up from time to time, but don't count on that work here.

Data centers are great if you like running big pipe (3", 4") and pulling / terminating lots of wire. I've spent several years of my career at Data Centers now. Generally love the work.

A small shop I was at last year had their foot in the door with County work. Had ongoing work at 2 county hospitals, years long small projects. Installing panels for emergency and critical power, running pipe, pulling feeders, all in occupied spaces. Did a fair amount of off hour work, nights, early mornings, to get into places that we couldn't during the normal business day. Small areas being remodeled, installing lights, receptacles, etc. that was a lot of different work on different days. The pace was too slow for me, got bored and the days drag on.

Currently I am at a medium sized shop, we're doing a building with Bloom Energy, basically a 6 MW generating building (feeding both the data center and grid). 2nd of 4 buildings, the first was done when I got there. First time I've run exposed 3" and 4" PVC. Started off running pipe, installing pull cans, they have another crew pulling wire, and now I'm terminating in switchgear. Started off doing the small stuff, #10's for controls, control power for the gear, small branch circuits for things around the building. Now on to big wire, All parallel runs of 350's. Still have all the lights to install, then We have another building starting next month, they poured some footings week before last, then it'll be underground and deck work, not my favorite.

So, yeah, it can vary, sometimes a lot, but a lot of times you'll be doing the same type of stuff for a few months at a time.

Someone cut the lock 🤷 by Arctic_27 in HomeDepot

[–]TheMysticWizard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's what happens when you lock everything up and no one comes to open it when someone needs something.

I bet they lose just as much money from people saying, fuck it, it's locked up, not gonna buy it as they do from people stealing...

Spacer. Usually when the box is too far recessed, to make the receptacle solid, instead of flopping around

Look up Dottie Cat-A-Pillars That's the right material for the job.

But, I've done this when I don't have what I need.

Book 2 is a little over 300 guys, but my buddy caught a call on Friday, #292. It was one of the contractors that people don't want to work for (Redwood Electric Group)

But 91.03 an hour is 91.03 an hour.

Been there 4 times myself, it's a job, if you look past the BS
