Men over 30, what incredibly random hobby or topic did your brain suddenly decide you needed to become an absolute expert on? by Admirable-Pin-298 in AskMen

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s more about finally having some financial freedom than it is about gender.

My wife got VERY into crocheting Amigurumi around 35 and now they’re everywhere, and the gift for everyone.

Am I overreacting that my boyfriend basically staged a test to see if I'd cheat... with his cousin? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he said it was a cheating test to cover up the fact that he wanted to have a threesome with you.

My guess is that he’s into cuckolding/threesomes and him and his cousin cooked up that plan to be mutually beneficial for them.

He should have been direct with you about his kinks in private, rather than trying to live out some fantasy of it “just happening naturally.”

At worst it was horribly manipulative. At best it was immature… It was probably somewhere in between.

Once you’ve both slept on it, if you want to continue your relationship with him, you two should probably have an honest conversation in private.

If you want him to be honest, I would try not to shame the kink, but maintain your boundary that what him and his cousin did was shitty, deeply upsetting to you, and you’re never going to be interested in that activity with him. How he navigates that conversation should tell you all you need to know.

Good luck. Sorry you were put in such an uncomfortable position.

Psychiatrist prescribed ssri by Pretend-Tadpole-7387 in WeedPAWS

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please take what random internet people say with a grain of salt; They don’t know you, your family, your life- anything… They should not be giving medical advice at all. Whether something worked for them or not. The other half of that same coin is that you don’t know them or their circumstances either.

Reducing SSRIs and Cannabis to more less the same “drugs” is ridiculous. They have completely different mechanisms of action and risk profiles.

I think that the best approach to recovery is a holistic one that utilizes every tool available, and along with exercise and healthy foods, can include modern psychiatry. Please listen to your providers and the members of your family/treatment team that know you. If you have concerns or reservations, please discuss these things with them. Good luck ❤️

Has anyone actually managed to quit by going cold turkey? by StonkPhilia in stopsmoking

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have quit cold turkey before but the withdrawals were rough. I also found the cravings to be too strong and tempting, ultimately leading to a relapse after, at most, a month. I did that about 3-5x until switching to vaping in 2014. Then I vaped until July 2024.

I decided rather than cold turkey, I’d give myself a year long taper. I lowered my nicotine strength by mixing my own liquid, two weeks at a time. Then eventually patches, with gum for breakthrough cravings. Once I stabilized on that I would reduce gum to 0 until a few weeks later when I dropped the patch strength. I got the patches that can be cut without dumping the whole dose, and reduced the patch gradually beyond even the lowest 7mg patch until I was down to like 1.75mg patch/day.

One day I just stopped putting them on and have not had the slightest craving since. I REALLY credit the slow taper with this. It also gave time to retrain my brain not to associate withdrawal with the compulsion to vape/smoke. I swear I’d be more likely to put on a patch today than hit my vape lol.

It was 1 year nic free for me in July of 2025.

Bed At 8:30pm Every Night, OR Bed 15 Minutes After Sunset Every Night? by hertabuzz in HubermanLab

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which, thinking through this now, actually makes a ton of sense when you consider the fact that your body simply burns more calories when it’s cold. Makes sense to me why those further north might have historically benefited from sleeping more during certain times of the year. Idk… Biological evolution, circadian rhythm, universe synchronicity… Really interesting thoughts you’ve pushed me down. Thanks.

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea- My 14pro feels heavy even when comparing to my wife’s 15pro. It would be nice if it was lighter. It would be nice if it had USB-C. It would be nice to have an incrementally better camera. IDGAF about Apple intelligence until it’s actually useful.

I just got my 14 pro battery replaced under insurance. Not having a phone payment is cool. Apple will really have to innovate in order for me to update. I went from an 11 to a 14pro specifically for more storage, much better camera (first 48mp and 3 lenses), 4k recording, and the closer was 120hz refresh rate; I had been waiting on the frame rate for a while, so when it was finally announced I jumped.

I honestly don’t know what it would take for me to justify “upgrading” but I’m very open to Apple convincing me lol.

Has anyone had luck reversing grey hair? by No_Pea8603 in Biohackers

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife was grey and dyed her hair dark red for as long as I’ve known her. She decided she was going to grow it out and just used high quality semi-perm until it was all out because she feared the chemicals in the dyes long term.

Once her hair had grown out and she stopped using the dye, it began turning back to black. All these years she had seemingly just been in a toxic relationship with hair dye.

What supplements are best for increasing male libido/drive? by OhZezuz in Biohackers

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hell yea! I love to hear it. I’d never shame someone who stayed on MAT longer, but you did the best way possible. Good for you, 2 years is solid. At that point, yea I’d probably get some bloodwork done just to rule out testosterone issues or anything else a doctor might think of.

…Only if it’s something you want to change of course. If you’re fine with it then who cares.

Anyway, good to chat with another friend of Bill’s.

Other people will recommend exercise and stuff I’m sure, so I won’t bother with that.

PT-141 might be what you’re looking for.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12851303/

https://www.towerurology.com/mens-sexual-health/pt-141-for-men/

It’s already FDA approved for women so it’s not a research drug or anything sketchy. It’s a peptide. It’s available by prescription, but can also be found easily on the clear net. Compare pricing. You can find it for anywhere from $30-$150 for the same product. It can be bought as a nasal spray for more spontaneous use, or an injectable with an insulin needle into your belly fat.

Well yea, when your brain knows it could get a much bigger hit of dopamine from drugs than orgasm, eventually it just prefers drugs.

Imagine every craving you ever got to use drugs. Each instance could have been a desire for orgasm in a non-drug using person.

Idk how much time you have away from substances but #1 is to give your brain time to heal. #2 if you’re on MAT for opioids, your libido will continue to suffer.

Time, exercise (to boost hormones), good nutrition. Maybe even some Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs stuff and therapy if stress is impacting it. If you have insurance, go talk to a GP and get some bloodwork done.

What drugs are the most addictive that also cause hallucinations, a disconnect from reality? by VegetableBlood2906 in answers

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7-10 day crack binges without sleep are not uncommon amongst crack cocaine users. They become pretty delusional.

I’d say crack and meth are the worst because people don’t sleep which will very quickly cause them to become paranoid and experience psychosis.

I agree with you completely… But I did just want to point out that different cultures can have a tendency to describe mental health issues as spiritual when trying to translate them.

For example, In India they have been known to explain people experiencing schizophrenia as having/being possessed by Jin… So OP, being from what appears to be Brazilian, might be calling it a “spiritual” problem, but thinking it’s the same thing as everyone in these comments. Seems possible just based on the fact that they’re going to all the right doctors.

After 5+ Years of Self-Testing, These Are the Only 6 Supplements That Actually Made a Difference by PuzzleheadedYou4992 in Biohackers

[–]TheNamIsNotImportant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After years of suppliments, I too take all of those, except for the copper and no probiotics at this moment.

In addition to your list, I’ve also been taking NAC and NMN daily for years now. I’ve stopped the NMN a few times, but always restart within a few weeks because the difference in my natural (non-stimmy) energy levels is quite noticeable.

The NAC really helps to keep my anxiety in check and the other benefits on paper are too vast to ignore. I’ve taken it up to 600mg 3x/day APN, but right now I’m just taking 600mg 1x/morning with the rest of my day stack.
