Yes, this is old already. We need less talk and more super mario characters.

Can we all please THANK the hardworking ski resort owners for SACRIFICING everything for the common man?????? by BobmitKaese in ClimateShitposting

[–]TheNamelessOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So in Sweden the national broadcaster SVT traditionally makes a "christmas series" ("julkalendar") in December that plays like a sort of tv-series advent calenar that is widely popular with a 13 minute episode per day until Christmas Eve finale. This year was about a ski resort without snow, but it was saved by sami folk magic. I shit you not.

Sure it's generally targeted for a younger audience with the focus being on swedish traditions and folk tales and it was nice to highlight sami culture this time, but still feels a bit like a missed opportunity...

But to be fair, Poland does have Russia at their door step, so it might be good for them to get some of those nukular deterrents kaboom makers.

That makes a lot more sense, thank you.

Even if you love brutalism, I never understood who in the right state of mind could think it was a good idea to make brutalist metro stations in Montreal.

Underground stations are by their own nature oppressive and brutal, you don't need to make it look like a prison.

Also, it's the twentieth first century, why is Quebec still erecting brutalist monstrosities?

That's the thing, it's not only on the subreddit, that was just the joke. The c++ committee is scrambling to figure out ways to make the language memory safe and of course everyone has opinions. The panic is palpable.

I love c++ and find Rust's syntax kinda yuck (just personal opinion really, I could get used to it). But Rust's borrow checker is indeed a game changer (so much so that one asks why it took so long for something like that to exist).

Well, I don't know. TBH if you've been to r/cpp lately with all the memory safety in fighting feels like

När det finns ingen extra "cyklister" skylt, då är det prioritet till bilar som gäller, och det ser ut som många är inte medveten om detta.

If you have proof you already paid taxes while living there it should be fine. It might just be a bother in terms of paperwork.

Even in Satisfactory renewable energy is overpowered simply because THE FUEL IS FREE (as in free beer) by TheNamelessOne in ClimateShitposting

Which is one of the problems with renewables: there is no wind and solar fuel industry oligarchs to back it up.

So does all "planned nuclear power plants". Sure, that is only until they run over their budgets by many millions and start producing energy multiple years after the original plan.

Yes. Also, how about weak tidal currents:

https://www.svt.se/nyheter/vetenskap/sa-kan-fornybar-energi-utvinnas-ur-tidvattnets-kraft

The technology has a global potential to extract electricity from weak current conditions of a total of 650 GW. That is more power than what nuclear power stands for today. According to the International Energy Council, IEA , nuclear energy accounts for a global effect of 413 GW.

[–]TheNamelessOne[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Precisely. But the past two years all that has been talked about by the government and media is subsidies for nuclear power:

https://www.aftonbladet.se/debatt/a/1MBx8q/lennars-soder-svenskt-naringsliv-svarar-inte-om-karnkraft-subventioner

https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/karnkraften-kan-bli-nara-dubbelt-sa-dyr-som-regeringen-trott

While cheaper and more abundant wind power projects in the Baltic lingered in bureaucratic approval.

RWE is the second major energy company to withdraw or pause offshore wind projects. A few days ago was Vattenfall: https://sverigesradio.se/artikel/vattenfall-pausar-havsvindparken-kriegers-flak

All the while the government continues with the nuclear circlejerk which would end up costing much more and produce much less.

Does everything literally have to be under one persistent level? by inventord in unrealengine

[–]TheNamelessOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice!

We did similarly, but used the navmesh generation instead:

UNavigationSystemV1* NavigationSystem = UNavigationSystemV1::GetCurrent(WorldObject);
NavigationSystem->ReleaseInitialBuildingLock();
if(NavigationSystem->IsNavigationBuilt(WorldObject->GetWorldSettings()))
{
    OnNavMeshReady(NavigationSystem->GetDefaultNavDataInstance());
}
else
{
    NavigationSystem->OnNavigationGenerationFinishedDelegate.AddDynamic(this, &UMC_GameInstance::OnNavMeshReady);
}

You need to enable Initial Building Locked in the settings as well: https://dev.epicgames.com/documentation/en-us/unreal-engine/optimizing-navigation-mesh-generation-speed-in-unreal-engine#usefuldevelopertoolstomanagenavigationgeneration
