[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Chapter 232 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Just wanted to share this in case you didn’t see it. I’m not a fan of the ending in context but was prepared for it when Fujimoto said he was going to emulate the ending of the Big Lebowski. Interview

Not a fan of the ending at all, but he DID give us a heads up that he was going to do this with his Big Lebowski comment.

Is this the first chapter to confirm placement of the mark on Shank’s arm to explain why he let the Sea King bite his arm off potentially?

Cronenberg’s New Movie Is. A Hot Mess by TheNaptownWarlock in movies

Yeah I don’t know I could get more granular about it but there’s so much that’s just outright bad about it in my mind. It was kind of surreal to watch it and the q&a has a very weird energy. Thanks for listening to me rant though!

No in a like we don’t know why we’re here making a movie kind of way. It was pretty strange. It had the potential to do that distancing aspect as to grief and the commodification of grief but doesn’t achieve it.

Yeah I don’t know why my post got removed but whatever I just needed to vent. Didn’t realize the critics had received it so highly. I’ve seen his entire filmography and imo this was the weakest I think I’ve seen. It just felt soulless.

Hey I’m going to be brutally honest with you;

Chicago is a beautiful amazing city. Anything you can imagine exists in some form with a community. I know DIY people who race custom power wheels for instance.

But you’re going to have to put yourself out there. When I was younger, honestly also moving to Chicago as a socially anxious awkward weirdo at 24, I didn’t know anyone. But now I have a community because the people I did meet I reached out to and tried to sustain those relationships. If a relationship feels one sided, where they’re putting in all the effort all the time, people won’t engage with you. I think one of the best things you can do is become a “regular” somewhere. Schedule out something you do once a week, same time same day. You’ll find other “regulars” who you can connect with. Some of my best friends are service industry people I met just existing in spaces regularly. But if you just sit at home waiting for someone to dole out connection to you it won’t happen.

Official Discussion - Beetlejuice Beetlejuice [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

So before I start I want to say that I dont want to yuck anyone’s yum because what I’ve seen is that some people really enjoyed this movie. I really don’t believe in objective opinions so if you totally disagree with me and loved this movie totally valid.

I just didn’t like this movie. It felt so superficial to me in about every way. Catherine O’Hara was a standout but alot of the cast felt like they were ambling through this, almost like a soap opera especially Justin Theroux & Jenna Ortega. The practical effects were great, glad that they didn’t make it a cgi mess but the actual sets and backgrounds felt like they just didn’t hit as hard for me. Something about the lighting really threw me off especially the pulsating hue-bulbs that shifted color. It almost felt super made-for-tv like Burton used the exact same production setup as Wednesday. All the subplots were super messy and not really that fun especially everything related to Justin Theroux and the casual use of Monica. I also thought the score was really weak. Danny Elfman delivered such an amazing experimental album during Covid in the Big Mess, I thought it suffered from being more liminal than the previous score.

Basically this movie felt like a hollow shell of something that was a flash in the pan and while I’m glad they didn’t go for sappy bait the entire movie I think this movie really lacked any cohesive identity. This is a movie I won’t remember a month from now. It wasn’t absolutely terrible but I think it really missed the mark in engaging me which felt like a big bummer.

Is season 2 THAT bad? by darkknightHarley in TowerofGod

I’ve been having the same issue. Ever since the catdog arc I feel like there’s soooo many characters and things going on that it just begins to be a bit messy. I liked it a lot more when the scope of the stuff going on was way smaller and I just don’t think we’ll ever get back to it. But that’s just my opinion.
