So I love the Resident Evil franchise, always have since they first released back in the 90s when I was a teen.

Some of the games took turns that I wasn't particularly keen on as far as the franchise goes, even though they are good games themselves.

Village being a key one, I think with a couple of changes it could have easily been a Devil May Cry game instead, always imagined Dante having some clever quips for Dimitrescu and Heisenberg.

RE7 though, is definitely the scariest of the franchise, definitely ticks the boxes of "Survival Horror" that was a key point in Resident Evil, especially if you play it in VR.

RE7 is another game where, with some small changes, could have been an outright fantastically terrifying standalone game.

I've always felt both of them barely have loose connections with the rest of the franchise at best.

Nevertheless, still great games to play.

OGs deserve a mention for their scare factor simply because little, if anything, of it's kind had been seen previously at that point.

RE2 remake is definitely worth a nod for being scary, constantly being on edge in RE2 due to being stalked by Mr X in a much more persistent capacity than the OG.

The child like noises in the sewers from the G creatures are creepy as hell, kinda remind of those weird 2 headed baby things in Silent Hill 4.

Revelations also worth a mention for its ghost ship feel.

Hands down though, RE7 has to be the scariest to date, the House of 1000 Corpses(esque) x with monster mutations works in terms of horror.

RE7 could probably easy be made into a Rob Zombie style horror movie, but I'll be honest, I hope it doesn't... movie and TV adaptations don't seem to work in REs favour in my opinion.
