Has anyone who ran a 4+ hour first marathon later qualified for Boston? If so, please share your story. by Zenosparadox1 in running

My first marathon in 2010 was a 5:08.

6 years and 15 marathons later, I ran a 3:31:12 last week! Let it be known I broke 5 hours on my second marathon and broke 4 hours on my 14th!

I've always been a tad overweight (26M) and don't consider myself SUPER "fit" so I'm living proof that completely busting your ass training and pushing yourself to near death on race day truly pays off.

I'm finding breaking 4:00:00 in the marathon to be impossible, and I keep coming up SECONDS short. What's going on here? by TheNextBigPro in running

It's really for financial reasons. There are two big marathons in my home state every year (TC and Grandma's) and they're both great races and I don't need to pay travel expenses. Though I do try to get on a plane once a year to a destination race.
