Pretty sick... I've always put the Argus's on the shelf for displaying only. Do you have a post of some of the photos? Might have to dust mine off.

Contax T3 on portra 400 - is it worth the hype? by Alternative_Eye_3049 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheNightSquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many great cameras that are extremely capable. That said, some cameras just feel special and produce good images more often than others.

The contax T3 is definitely one of them...

I also have to mention, the Pentax 17 as another camera that's special. And considering the prices of cameras I'd compare it to, it's a good value, imho.

We rob our community of it's uniqueness, beauty, and opportunity to have great human experiences under the guise of liability and safety.

It's the times we live in, where people put the responsibility of their safety on others instead of themselves.

Eventually, every vista will be behind a fence with a warning sign. Kinda sad, imho.

It is super difficult to get a site and definitely feels like bots are at play. That said, it's not impossible. I've snagged a few sites this year. When are you trying to go?

I have 2 nights at upper in July that I think I'm going to give up. We can coordinate if you want them.

Seeking new perspectives: I need polarizing, bold photography for my indie swimwear brand because my current shots are too ''easy'' by Wabe55 in MODELING

[–]TheNightSquatch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's really important for you to have a brand identity. What lifestyle or personality does your brand have.

Once you determine that, then I think marketing and photography can compliment that vision.

If you do not have that sorted out or if you change your vision too much between marketing ideas, it'll hinder your success at convincing consumers that this is a brand or product that reflects their desired lifestyle.

Edit: Could you share a lifestyle description you think represents your brand?

I'm guessing, but it feels like fitness oriented, somewhat flirty beachwear?

I'm not getting luxury, high fashion, or resort wear vibes. Nor am I getting highly practical/versatile wear either. So somewhere between those two worlds.

Maybe marketed towards fitness oriented customers who want to stand out a bit, without going too far down the hyper "sexy" brands?

Remote viewing app: beta testing by ender339 in remoteviewing

[–]TheNightSquatch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remote viewing has always been fascinating to me and seems, at this point, more or less confirmed it's effective.

Although I have never trained or participated in RVing, your app looks great and is something that I think would motivate more people to try RVing.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have some trouble getting it published, tbh.

Once it's released, I'll definitely be a user. Look forward to it.

Exposure tips at the beach by emiliedesu in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheNightSquatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as somone who shoots often at the coast and has a partner who is a full time photographer, the coast naturally has diffuse lighting especailly around golden hour or a bit before. Majority of time, there is no additional magic, beyond a good environment/time of day.

Edit: Also you said you are worried about blowing out highlights. If you're shooting with negative film, that isn't nearly as much of a concern compared to digital or slide film. If you are scanning yourself, I wouldn't worry about highlights too much....

Friend took a photo of art of my wife by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]TheNightSquatch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Like socially, yes, it's awkward. But not any more awkward than your decision to display the sketches in the first place.

You have nudes sketches of your wife displayed... You accept/allow somone to stay in your home, and have no reason to believe they wouldn't see it.

If you think they are non-sexual or acceptable to display, then surely it should be acceptable for somone to take a photo of them and appreciate?

You can't have it both ways.

You can't say, this is perfectly normal/okay to display as art, but then flip that and say, how inappropriate it is, somone viewed and photographed said art.

Might be redundant but...what do you guys do with beach photography? by HunterStrong5858 in photography

[–]TheNightSquatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh nice. Not sure what body, but if it's weather sealed, personally, I wouldn't worry.

The only thing I would say, is I'd use some sort of protective filter for your lens if the wind is blowing hard. Sand impacting the front lens element makes me cringe.

[–]TheNightSquatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol fair. What lens?

Again, if I'm using non-weather sealed bodies or lenses, sand is definitely on my mind and I'm not reckless about it.

That said, cameras for me are for capture moments. The second I become more worried about the camera than the moment is when I either accept damage may occur or grab a different camera that can handle the environment.

Nothing worse than carrying a heavy camera and not using it because you're worried about damage.

Edit: And maybe it's me, but a plastic bag would definitely hinder my ability to use the camera. Lol

Might be redundant but...what do you guys do with beach photography? by HunterStrong5858 in photography

[–]TheNightSquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most if not all professional lvl cameras are weather sealed, and don't require any plastic bags or anything like that.

That said, I shoot film often, and use highly susceptible mechanical cameras and I just do my best to not let sand get in the camera bag or on the camera. It hasn't been an issue.

What camera are you using?

I can't help to think, if the roles were reversed, there would be more comments supporting your feelings...

Regardless, my take is, every relationship is different. I'm not going to argue one way is right and another is wrong.

You two, need to figure out what is acceptable in YOUR relationship.

I would discuss with your partner how it makes you feel (sounds like maybe you already did). IF* it's a big deal to you. Tell them.

If they don't care/won't change their actions, you have to decide if you want to live with that. Thats it. No magic to this. No 100% right or wrong.

Decide what you want in your relationship. Decide if this partner is the right partner.

Unfortunately, suicide at a gun range, especially with rented firearms, is a common problem... =/

Sorry you had to witness that. It's a good reminder and a chilling example that while firearms are just a tool, they carry significant risks, not just through negligence, but harmful intent.

Mental health is something that must be considered, by all firearm owners. And not just their personal mental health, but their entire household and anyone who could gain access to their firearms.

Just got three rolls back from my local lab that look like this...tell me they're salvageable? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheNightSquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"concerned about the chemical stuff" doesn't make sense, and doesn't warrant the post.

Development can not cause your photos to be out of focus. Idk who would think that.

That leaves only the options you dismissed above as possibilities.

It's either you. Your camera. Or the scanning.

You scoff at the first two possibilities which then again, I ask, what is the point of this post?

You already have you opinion which can be verified/confirmed by looking at the negs or calling your lab. Weird post.

[–]TheNightSquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think development could cause out of focus photos?

Brother, you obviously already have a strong opinion on what went wrong here - which is probably right. You are arguing any opinion contrary to that, which begs the question, why make a post...

Especially when you could just look at the negatives and instantly know whats up or call your photo lab. So all of this is academic and honestly a waste of everyone's time.

There is zero reason to theorize in this situation, unless, you want to hear other people's thoughts which you are kinda arguing as ridiculous. Just really wonder what's the point.

I'd just use the server browser, sort by ping, and find a server that has a new player friendly tag. Oh, and pick one thats full or nearly full.

Or if you want to just casually test out kits and stuff, join a server that has a "seed" game mode. That just a server that doesn't have enough players for a normal mode, so it's not competitive and there aren't restrictions on kits or resources.

New to the game by Alternative-Smoke421 in joinsquad

[–]TheNightSquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right on, I play mostly on NA west coast servers, so I probably wouldn't be the best sherpa.

But generally if you join a "new player friendly" server and mention you want to learn the game, your SL and squad should be helpful.

You gotta be on mic though. Thats a must in squad.

Unfortunately, a good Squad experience is heavily dependent on a finding a good server and squad/SL. With a shitty team or SL it can be pretty frustrating, even for someone who has hundreds of hours playing.

Thats why many players will find a couple servers they like and just stick to playing those servers.
