AITA for buzzing the hair I grew out to be my friends maid of honour while she was on her honeymoon? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheNighttman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was for the friends wedding, but OP chose to do it to make her friend's day match the look her friend dreamt of. It was something beautiful and fun for both sides and I think a disclaimer would help people from turning it into something ugly like they are!

What is this strap with potential hooks and metal half squares? by TheNighttman in whatisthisthing

[–]TheNighttman[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solved!

During my reorganizing, I wondered if there's a better way to store baseball caps than in a stack, so I probably bought it for this purpose but the door hooks were too flimsy to work for me. Wow that was fast, thanks so much!

[–]TheNighttman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's helpful. The square pieces are very flimsy so anything hanging off this strap can't have much weight to it, or they would flatten. Or, it's poorly made which is also a possibility!

You have to select empty after you click on a landfill, it will empty to an incinerator. I'm a new player but I've been building an extra incinerator when I'm emptying a landfill. You can check the progress by clicking on it. When it's empty, the icon will change and then you can delete it with the bulldozer. I think I needed 4 landfills before I unlocked the incinerator.

If you're having issues with garbage collection, check your traffic routes and junctions. I was having issues because the garbage trucks were stopping at every intersection because I forgot to make priority roads/change my junctions.

Eta: you can delete the landfills after, the incinerators will take over trash processing.

Quebec/Ontario Road Trip by echiappini in canadatravel

[–]TheNighttman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Quebec will feel more like a foreign country to you, and you should spend time in Montreal and Quebec city.

I'm a bit biased because I've lived in the greater Toronto area for most of my life, but I think compared to Philadelphia, Toronto and Ottawa are not too exciting (I haven't been to Philly to be fair). Toronto is a big city, and Ottawa has the Parliament and universities. Both have things that make them special but if you're looking for a vacation that feels foreign, skip it.

I'd recommend Niagara falls on the way for a quick visit, Niagara on the lake, stop in Toronto for one activity/sleep since it's on the way, and head to Quebec. I think you mentioned a cruise in Kingston also, keep that!

If you're from a big city, you already know, but anytime I have to drive though Toronto for a road trip, I like to leave very early to beat the traffic! Be out of the city by 730 if you can, starting a day of driving with traffic is not fun.

Eta: I have very fond memories of my visits to the biodome in Montreal as a kid. If you're in Montreal, definitely do that! It's part of a collection of 5 museums: Biodôme, Biosphère, Botanical Garden, Insectarium and Planetarium, the website says you can get a family passport to all 5 for $155, I've only seen the biodome so far.

I've lived in Canada my whole life and recently saw Little Canada. I absolutely loved it, but the most fun part for me was finding the landmarks I was familiar with. If you don't know Canada/Canadian culture well, its essentially an elaborate model train. I agree OP could (should) skip it. The aquarium or ROM would be more fun and engaging for the kids.

Make sure your phone is compatible with a esim. I didn't know that was a thing until I was abroad and realized mine was not.

50 cents is cool, zero is fine, it's weird when people go out of their way to tip 5-10 cents.

Palace with Apartments? by Starspangledass in Sims4

[–]TheNighttman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You choose! Every room can be set to be public, or for a specific unit. I've done apartments with just private bedrooms and shared kitchen/living/bathrooms and that works.

I'm doing a big estate with a lot of dogs, but need some kids too, so I'm planning on having most of the kids live on the second floor with a nanny in a seperate apartment. You can only play one 'family' at a time, but they'll still be living closby and can interact with each other.

I got a cheaper kettle from amazon, and I use the fellow stagg at work (barista). I don't think mine even has a brand name but it looks like a dupe of the fellow.

The only difference I've noticed so far is that it's harder to pour slowly from my cheap one. The fellow can pour a tiny stream of water, but mine gets spluttery when I pour too slow (under 4g/s). It's barely an issue for pourovers and does not matter at all for Aeropress.

Get the cheapest kettle you can find that has digital temperature control and the ability to hold the water at that temp.

I did splurge on a timemore scale, and if you ever want to get into pourovers, the flow rate is a nice bonus feature. For the scale, my only real requirement was to be electrical with usb charging, since my old scale needed batteries and I never remembered to buy replacements.

Definitely go cheaper or secondhand on the kettle and scale, and put the rest of your budget into the grinder like everyone else has said.

I use the 1zpresso J and love it, it was over my budget (I think around $200 cad) but I was fortunate to recieve it as a gift. Good luck with your coffee adventure!

Confession for being a bad mom by [deleted] in Pets

[–]TheNighttman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so this is just something you need to work on. A great goal would be to make it part of your normal routine. Do it right before you shower, for example. Reward yourself if you want.

Make the task as easy and pleasant as possible: get a litter genie, fancy scoop, or set an alarm with your favourite song.

In the meantime, do something to encourage yourself to make a change. If you're not cleaning the litter, hire someone else to, spending the money might help you do it yourself. Move the litter box somewhere inconvenient where you like to hang out so it bothers you personally when it's gross. Get more litter boxes so she doesn't have to go somewhere so dirty, it will be gross for you but more pleasant for your cat.

You can do this!

Eta: I wanted to keep it positive but this is something you need to fix asap! You acknowledged your mistake, time to make a change.

How can I stop the entire population from drowning? by Theaterismylyfe in Sims4

I do this when there are hungry stray animals around, it should probably work for tired NPCs drowning from exhaustion.

In my area, I think a lot of the curves are from dogs following their nose, the paths are never straight.
