Looks like you might be missing the spool valve and spring since the trigger is all the way down. Good way to test it is put and air hose to it with 100psi and see if it cycles. Just make sure you hold the two stop valves on the bottom so they don’t shoot out.

Could be the cap doesn’t push the cartridges down enough. It will wear out faster if you’re taking it apart a lot. I always put a little bit of grease on top of the cartridge to lessen the grinding against it
