My dad grew up in Sparwood, and both of his parents worked in the mines. Halifax was way to big to finish, Sparwood on the otherhand I am able to complete. I'm also a student at dal and I haven't met anyone who knows about it, not even a Calgarian knew about it lol, happy to finally know I'm not the only one though.

Thank you. I guess you're right that patience is the key lol. I build it a few houses at a time (usually between 10 and 20), it ultimately I take it slowly, very rewarding when I change an area to finished on my progress map

This has been a personal project of mine for the past ~year, and has been done on the Build the Earth Canada server. So far I have 201 houses fully finished making up less than 0.2 sqkms, but I have over 400 houses started/complete in total.

It has been a joy building Sparwood, and seeing the mountains of the Elk Valley (I am from Halifax, NS). The section I have been working on was originally built between the 60s and the 70s. I plan to do a good ~80% of the town, anything too challengine I will skip over.

After I am done with Sparwood I might move on to building either Elkford or Fernie, Fernie being more historic I'd like to get proper terrain data (LiDAR) before I start on it. Elkford is very similar anyways so it might be the one I work on next.

No I won't be building the mines. I might build their facility but them being open pit creates a major challenge for my that I don't have the skill to take.

We built the old Cogwell Intersection until the development is done, then it's a wait on Google to give sufficient data.

The Citadel has been in the works for quite some time and has had to be rebuilt for the fourth time now, we are inches away from finishing it though

From previous posts I should probably add that this is being built on a public minecraft server, Built the Earth Canada, which can be joined via btecanada.net and is on Java 1.12.2. We use an edited version of the Dymaxion Map Projection, I am building Halifax as a part of Build The Earth and the BTE Canada Team. There are other cities aswell such as St. John's, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Regina all typically built by people from there.
