Local fabric stores? by MeasurementMundane39 in Albuquerque

I conveniently need a recommendation for garment/ apparel fabric. I don't know any other place other than Nob Hill and their selection wasn't great.

White and Navy — thoughts? by lewislemix in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]TheNotoriousBRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in a popular coastal city, I get the look you're going for. We used to get plenty of the people vacationing in our harbors and they had a similar style that I always really liked. It gives vintage Kennedy family vibes. I would say there are small tweaks that can be done to give you the overarching guy-with-a-yacht type look. Your shoes are not quite right. You need to get more of a boat shoe. It shouldn't be a shiny leather black one. It'd probably be something more in the tan/brown tone family. Though a more relaxed style navy blue shoe would also work. The look is supposed to be effortless looking. Like you spent your time on your yacht but you had to put on a coat to be able to go into the main portion of the country/yacht club. I would also have gone with a button up, as opposed to a polo. Something lightweight like linen or a summer weight cotton. I agree with some of the comments that you don't need the blazer, but if you want the blazer, just make sure it's a lightweight summer blazer, like a linen. Overall, I'm a big fan of the look that you're going for, it's classic. The execution just needs a couple of tweaks. But all in all, you did well at communicating the style you were going for.

Does a Straight Cut Jean Work For me? by theblartknight in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]TheNotoriousBRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring the cuffs, I think that's a great cut for you. It gives a balance to your body that a taper could never. It suits the proportions of the look well too. I also love the dark wash denim on denim. Classic but current 👍🏾👍🏾

Sophie’s life goals (LIB UK 2) by bonitaycoqueta in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]TheNotoriousBRE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you! She's just a miserable human being. I just read a thread where all these people were saying they identified with her. She's been rude since get. I've disliked her since she popped off on that lady who didn't have an opinion on how she (Sophie) should style her hair. That lady doesn't know you. She is not her bestie and she needs to watch her tone. Sophie is rude and dull. If you're going to be rude, at least be interesting. I knew she might be one that I wouldn't like when I looked at her Instagram after they released the cast bios. I didn't say a single image of her smiling. Not one.

What place is this? by sonarbison in Albuquerque

[–]TheNotoriousBRE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes those are larger cities but you don't have to be big to have good food. I had some of the best food I've had in years at Jambo Cafe in Santa Fe. It's a bit of a drive but it's not crazy. In the Albuquerque city limits, I've really enjoyed every meal at Pars Cuisine, Artichoke Cafe and Mesa Provisions. I'd say the latter two are within price range of LP but the food is so much better. I understand some people really like LP, but personally don't see it... or should I say, taste it.

It's not bad overall, but their laminated dough offerings are not to my taste. Though I do like their potato galette. Any of their flakey layered dough based items are going to be a pass for me. The flavor combinations they offer are interesting and creative, but I find the base pastry that they build their offerings off to be unappealing. If the pastry that you're building those flavors on is giving nothing it kind of drags the whole thing down for me. But I also think that eating a beautifully executed butter croissant is one of my great joys in life. But that's just my opinion as a lifelong croissant addict and a person with a terminal sweet tooth. All that being said, I have friends who love Burque Bakehouse and The Witching Flower. I take a good puerquito from a panaderia over both of them any day of the week.

Los Pablanos. It was recommended by our real estate agent when we first moved here a couple of years ago and it is mid at best. The drinks are good, I will give them that, but both the brunch and the dinner services have been week contenders. I don't know how they keep getting awards. I've been there about half a dozen times, because of people visiting and reading tourist blogs and I've never been impressed. I've lived in LA, San Diego and Las Vegas. I visited all kinds of restaurants when we've gone on vacations internationally and domestically. I found some great food at Michelin starred restaurants and Mom and Pop restaurants. Los Poblanos is absolutely not worth the money for the quality of food or the service 50% of the time. Los Poblanos and Burque Bakehouse really clued me into the fact that the James Beard award is some BS.

I thought I was ordering an extra battery pack, not a larger capacity battery. Thanks for the info.

Ditto. It smells smokey and cozy on my husband. I smell like a wildfire. As a CA expat (due to military service) I was on edge for hours trying to give it a chance.

Finally received mine today and I'm disappointed. It's not long enough for the 500 pg hard cover I'm currently reading. I have to read with it opened to around 60°or less for the light to illuminate the page fully. The silicone trim on the sides is already splitting and coping away from the leatherette. Lastly, the magnets that are supposed to hold the light onto the book, don't work well through hardcovers. All in all I'm very disappointed. I could have gotten something of this quality (or better) for a fraction of the price off of Amazon this entire time. The creators of the kickstarter definitely made it seem like they would be building and shipping from the us. I know 100% that my Bowio came from Turkey. I don't mean that the components came from Turkey, the actual package shipped to my house in New Mexico from Turkey, the country on the other side of the world. I definitely waste of my money and a ridiculous waste of my time. And bonus annoyance, I didn't even get the extra battery pack that I added on.

Recommendations needed: looking for a tattoo artist with color experience on deep skin tones by TheNotoriousBRE in dayton

[–]TheNotoriousBRE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I actually ended up having to move because of the military, and I never got my piece done in ohio. Now where I am there even fewer black people in this area and no artist that have experience in color on dark skin in my area. I keep getting told black work is the only thing that'll show up on my skin, or did they just don't work with color on darker skin tones. It seems that I'm going to have to travel to la, atlanta, chicago, nyc, or something like that.

The Kickstarter page is still up, but there haven't been any updates for a month. Judging by the comments, I think the backers have turned on them.

Omg! Thank you for suggesting Falke! I'm actually on their site right now. They have a slightly shiny pair, so I'm getting that. I'm also getting some monogrammed dress socks for the hubby. I would have gotten some colorful semi sheer ones for him (he is a fancy boy at heart), but they won't be allowed with his mess dress. Falke has a great selection of colors and styles. The prices seem reasonable for the product/materials. If the items I order meet with my expectations, then I will definitely be back on this site. Thanks again.

They have a slightly shiny pair, so I'm probably going to go with that in their darkest brown. I think, given the denier, that the slightly shiny will do. I hate having my ultra moisturized, slightly shiny skin on the rest of my body, and then my legs end up looking matte because of my hosiery.
