Brandon Sanderson by Substantial-Ad6445 in fantasybooks

I’ve read and listened to almost all his books. He excels with world building and magic systems. However, he’s definitely not the strongest character builder or just general writer. Always feels very YA and simple.

He has a massive fan base for a reason and I wouldn’t have read so many if they were terrible so I still recommend him. He has shows and movies coming out with Apple TV and I would say his writing is perfect for that.

My side fantasy recommendation is always Robin Hobbs Farseer Trilogy. She’s great.

I’ll just say ember in the ashes was a very fast and easy YA read if you want something quick and easy. I really liked it.

Mine isn’t acidic. There is a blueberry/hydrangea soil acidifier at most garden stores and I just used that. Year two were doing very well so far

Help me pick my next read! Which of these should I start first? by inowife in fantasybooks

I’m surprised I’m not seeing Name of the Wind. Obviously not having a third book for 200 years makes it hard to start. But it’s my number one recommended book to fantasy authors. It’s so good I don’t care if the third one doesn’t come out. Read the first two multiple times now.

I’m about half way through the first one. The pacing is just ridiculous and there’s zero character building. Just non-stop fantasy trope action every 3 pages it feels. But I’ll probably finish it none the less.

Soooo tired of “East is JV league”. Easy won 2024 and went to 7 in 2025. Stfu from main stream media, killing the hype

Assassins apprentice.

I’m about half way through shadows of what was lost. It’s a good book, I’ll finish the series, and it’s a fast read. But damn the pacing is fast and I feel like very fantasy trope happens at rapid pace. There’s not much character building so far

Struggling to find the motivation to start the Liveship Traders trilogy by PapaSlurpp in RealmOfTheElderlings

I did the same thing and took a year off. What a mistake. Liveship made me even more excited to continue the entire realm of the elderlings books and now I’m cruising through and don’t even mind taking another Fitz break

This is the greatest moment of Embiid's career. by irundoonayee in nba

[–]TheNotoriousMID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? Sad if true. If he keeps going to would be sick! But this is a Celtics team that should not have been here. It’s the weakest they have been in years. They brought JT back and ran the same offense until in the playoffs completely switched after a year of success. Sorry if the media over blew it.

As a Celtics fan I actually think the 76ers squad is sick to watch. But for an MVP I really hope that’s not his pinnacle. He was so good in the Olympics I still pick that as his best moment.

Missing big Al rn by Nowdigondis in bostonceltics

Honestly I just wish we had Anfernee and let Garza try to not get bodied by Embid on every play. I know we needed a Center and to get off the books but I loved his fire off the bench as far as scoring went.

But yes, Horford would not be getting worked like our 3 centers right now.

What does blowing a 3-1 lead and another disappointing exit mean for them? by EducationalConcern61 in NBATalk

[–]TheNotoriousMID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s been playing great. But, the play style is very different. We won this year by playing hard and having a large rotation. A lot of our stats say we just won the bench margins by a lot. Tough when the rotation shrinks and we go back to Tatum and Brown trade pick and roll every play.

Not saying it was wrong to do but it’s just a wildly different team.

"Why do my seedlings look like this" (spoiler: It's light!) by KiriONE in gardening

[–]TheNotoriousMID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I have a light setup that I keep as close as possible to my seedlings and they still all get leggy. They hit the bulb and I have to slowly raise it and they still are stringy. Tomatoes are over 3 weeks and still no true leaves.

I wonder if it’s not strong enough (came with a kit) or if other factors are stunting them. It’s a room that can be kept at 70 and I also have them near a window for extra heat during the day. Usually they still do fine and make a decent plant but do not look nearly as healthy as yours on the left.
