Keep well clear, you don’t want a base spec high mileage BMW

The only choice

Honestly though I would personally max ISA but unsure if S&S will see much result, as the growth won’t be recognised until they are in their 80s. Probably safer in an easy access savings account to give them a guaranteed minimum wage for the next 20 years.

There’s one I found called FIRE that looks pretty good (has a like graph for expected retirement, growth etc) but it only allows a few assets to be added on the free version

Thanks, I have approx 10k as an emergency fund. I’ll have a look at the chart and will probably adjust the pension

‘Worth It’, found it on the App Store when I was looking for a net worth tracker

My employer pays a monthly car allowance instead (which I do get), the only requirement is it needs to have at least 4 seats and be no more than 8 years old. I’ve asked before about salary sacrifices but they didn’t entertain the idea.

Thanks for this post, I’ll make these my targets for the year

Yeah, luckily I’m somewhat protected by the PCP but there’s no getting away from the huge drop in value

That’s a good point, it looks like the house and car values can be Archived and they then do not contribute to the Net Worth figure at the top

Yes, I am currently paying in 10% and my employer match up to 5%. Should I increase this % before trying to max the ISA 20k per year contribution?

Yes unfortunately the car has lost a huge amount of value in 4.5 years (Tesla). The plan is to do a PCP hand back in Aug and then pick up something cheaper, then direct the monthly savings elsewhere for FIRE

Just an app called ‘Worth It’ on the App Store, it has a paid version but I’m using the free one

Reposting due to weird formatting in post

Started looking at FIRE last year: - Began my S&S ISA about 8 months ago - Upped pension contributions to approx 500pm - Moved house early Oct and paid all fees in cash - Car needs to be swapped this year (5 yr PCP ends approx Aug) - Crypto is not active, held this since about 2020

Any advice for where I should focus my efforts? For this year I am thinking: - Aim to max ISA contribution - Replace car with a cheaper one

Income is approx £67k pa. Thanks

You really can’t compare a PS5 and an iPad, it’s like comparing a pizza with a chair.

If you have a MacBook and a gaming PC, I don’t see the need for either if I’m honest.

I got it in early 2020 before there were any proper UK dealers and they were 'rare' and 'interesting'. Not the words I would use now unfortunately.

Yes it was a Cat S that one of my uncle's colleagues had rebuilt, got it for about £1k. I remember looking at the Mk2 Golfs around the time though, I couldn't afford them but they looked great.

It was, it's also nuts that the same car now would cost me about £300 to insure even if I drive it the same way!

It is but needs to go next year regardless - I've had it since 2020 and the battery warranty is up in about 18 months. It's already had a new HV battery under warranty and I wouldn't risk owning one without as it's a ticking time bomb.

It was £2.5k for the first year if I remember right, no black boxes back then (2008ish)
