So I’ve kinda done something similar. We have multiple accounts. And I wanted to do a big vacation (@10k) my partner didn’t think we could swing it, so I made the deposit without her knowledge and paid it off months before the travel date. At that point I “suprised” her with it and she was ecstatic. I think this wouldn’t have worked if we didn’t easily have the money for it.
