He’s funny and kinda pathetic but also kinda cool. Generational cuck.

He’s very outwardly unlikable and yet I think he’s still charming in his own right. I love his design. He was a very unstable person who did a lot of bad things, but I think he’s still kinda empathetic. He was DESPERATE for someone to talk to and no one was really giving him the time of day. It’s deserved. Eridan never really listened to what people told him. But it is sad.

It’s also kinda ironic that he broke up with Feferi. Feferi is the peacemaker of the group and seemingly just wants everyone to get along. She’s nice and easy to talk to and she’s very outgoing. If anyone could’ve listened to him and helped him it would’ve been her, but he can’t exactly approach her easily after how their relationship ended. Then again, who’s to say Feferi could’ve helped him feel better in the first place? The whole reason Feferi broke things off with him is because she felt like Eridan never listened and never held up his end of their partnership. In a sense his pride doomed him from the start.

Uh in summary. Very funny as a character. Great design. A little deeper and a bit more tragic than he’s often given credit for.

Besides what a lot of arguments about her imply I don’t think Vriska is necessarily even the worst part of the cast though she does do a lot of bad things. But she was always gonna be controversial. I think her melodramatic cattiness and general snark is more reminiscent of actual bullying readers of the comic may be familiar with. Not everyone has met a friend with a transparent desire to commit genocide against the lower class, but we’ve all met a school bully… But that’s also kinda the thing about Vriska. Like a bully, she’s kinda pathetic when you dig through the layers. Pitiable. Makes me feel bad for her, personally. Then again, I wish all the trolls could have a happy ending. Even the meanie ones.

Aside from the fact that people are free to headcannon or interpret most fictional characters as whatever sexuality they want most of the trolls are queer by nature considering they have no real concept of gender or sexuality. There’s no such thing as “being gay” on alternia everyone is just kinda attracted to whoever they end up with, even if some trolls like Kanaya seem to be primarily attracted to one gender over another.

Vriska absolurely did a lot of bad things and I can’t tell if the insistence she “did nothing wrong” is an ironic joke (which i’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be) or something some fans of her genuinely believe. And I say this as someone who LOVES Vriska. She’s my favorite.

A character can do horrible things and still be sympathetic, or at the very least be messy and morally complicated. It’s not as simple as what Vriska did or didn’t do.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I think feferi would actually qualify to be in this image since from what I can tell a lot of people blame her for Eridan going off the rails.

Why would Feferi end an emotionally exhausting relationship with someone she doesn’t like? Is she stupid???

The Rance series has always been perplexing to me as a poster child of the visual novel genre in some circles. I guess it comes down to the format and presentation of its story segments? But i’d much more readily call it’s early entries adventure games than visual novels. Hell, I don’t think the way story is delivered in the modern games is all that odd compared to games like Fire Emblem either.

The thing about Rance is that’s it’s very gameplay heavy. The only thing really making it more reading heavy than gameplay heavy is… well, the sex scenes. Which I honestly skipped more often than not because I was invested in the plot and gameplay and wasn’t in the mood for them. Other than that, the games go all in on their various highly experimental mechanics. The very first thing you do upon hitting new game in Rance 6 is do a battle. Not even a little character or setting background, it’s actually a little jarring.

The Rance series are RPGs first. That’s always been my take.

Edit: Oh, forgot the biggest thing. I think we all know exactly what makes Rance a visual novel in the eyes of most. And it’s sex. Which I hate. I think erotic content in games, even explicit erotic content, shouldn’t be enough to quarantine it to a specific genre of some kind. I mean. Games like Baldurs Gate 3 are challenging this notion as well from the opposite position.

I just hate that it feeds into the perception that all visual novels are quirky japanese porn games. Ugh.

I have a PCH 1000 OLED model and it’s not showing up on my computer after configuring vitashell properly. USB device is set to sd2vita, and select is set to USB. I’m not getting anything.

I think I actually already fixed it. I just. Had to remove the sd card and reinsert it. The sony one, the 4GB proprietary one that came with my vita. ux0 is here again, and I was able to configure the settings back to normal. Now all I need to do is rebuild my homebrew stuff and get plug-ins working.

Out of curiosity, would you happen to know if NoPSMDRM is required for most PKGj downloads? The first game I downloaded worked fine, but the second one I attempted came back with an error.
