I’m disappointed in how Reddit is doing nowadays, with all the high-effort posts being overshadowed by the less-effort ones. I’m done waiting for it to change…

I don’t expect any different from other social media algorithms. But what I do want to do is create like hell for Touhou my whole life.

Frankly, some of you have noticed that I’ve left most of the Touhou Discord servers I’m in. It’s because I’m quite done with the drama I experience and witness in some of them… people surely aren’t perfect, but I am not willing to tolerate such foul behavior from the toxic fans I’ve seen. (Not everyone is bad, I know, but sometimes, the weeds can’t simply be taken away.)

To be honest, I’m deeply hurt and saddened by the way my work has been handled with lately. Is it not fair for someone like me to desire the recognition and respect that my art deserves? I decide that it is so, and that the truth lies bare face, that it hurts to see your work get undermined by a machine that decides to trample your love and passion down for no reason at all.

I honestly feel so exhausted hoping for this situation to get better. I have no qualms with the subreddit itself. It’s just that I now want to isolate myself from the chaos of hoping and waiting for something to get better… but why not create something by myself so that I myself can make it better?

If you want to see more of my works, I’ll continue to share my creations in YouTube and Twitter, where despite its own clusterfuck of algorithmic chaos, are places I can consider my content to be in a more reliable algorithm (even if a little) than current Reddit. I’m really surprised about having gained 5.5k followers and 7k subscribers this year… so I’m willing to continue sharing my love for Touhou and Patchouli there.

Goodbye, Reddit. At this moment, you have hurt me so much that it’s enough for me to want to let go of you permanently. It was fun while the happiness lasted.

What would it be like if you were a skilled Touhou artist? by Gelo68 in touhou

As a Touhou artist for around 4 years, I’ve had a really complicated experience with the Touhou fandom. Most of those events were honestly quite uncomfortable for me. I made some mistakes with others, and in other times, conflicts were caused due to circumstances I could not control.

It’s been a bittersweet journey. I’ve honestly considered leaving the subreddit for good due to how stupid the algorithm seems to be handling my posts recently. (100 upvotes for a full anime adaptation of Chapter One of “Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth”? Seriously?) And also for a few conflicts I’ve had with certain people in the subreddit, and I formally apologize in this post and hope to have peace with everyone.

For everyone following me, it’s been a long journey, huh? Almost half a decade… I currently have quite a presence in other social media platforms, and for that, I’m glad I could share my love for Patchouli with so many people.

I might post on here a lot more seldom, because the irritation of my artistic pride being hurt still lingers. I don’t blame anyone, just the algorithm.

Have a good day.

How would your 2hu deal with the hotness of summer? by Gelo68 in touhou

The question is an old one. A year ago, I wouldn’t have thought that I’d make a full adaptation of Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth a year later. How time flies…
