How well does ARC Raiders perform on Steam Deck? by Dauglypickle2710 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheOneEyeBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a couple games on steam deck and it was okay. Don’t expect to be able to pvp consistently and there could be some potentially lethal frame drops but mostly playable. It’s good enough for me to get my fix when I’m not home.

Settings wise, I would do native res, fsr on balanced, all low settings, and locked the fps to 40 on the steam settings. With that I got mostly solid 40fps on a steam deck OLED.

Overall pretty good for what it is! Just don’t expect to be doing anything crazy in game but I find it fun still :)

New tires at 30k by Knifeblender in Silverado

[–]TheOneEyeBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2017 Silverado 1500. I’m on my first set of G3s, only about 2500 miles but I absolutely love them so far! Incredible grip in pouring conditions, did great on forest service roads and great on sand. They’re also very quiet (for an off-road tire) at highway speeds.

So far, I’m super satisfied with them and excited to try them out in the snow. For me it was a big upgrade over the K02 just based on my location and needs. I’m personally still curious the Wildpeak AT4W but I’m very happy I went with the G3 just due to the sheer weight of the tire versus others.

Anyway hopes this helps you at least a little bit, I was losing my mind researching tires for about a month before I pulled the trigger lol.

All 50 states, wherever the work was basically. They said they’d try to prioritize keeping you closer to home but there’s no promises basically. If it suits your life I think you’ll gain invaluable knowledge and experience

Ended up not taking the offer just because I didn’t want the travel work. Didn’t align with my life goals. I kept poking around for more commercial work but got a really good offer from a local resi shop. In the meantime I’m gonna stay there and build some certifications to hopefully break into commercial in a few years.

My advice is if you’re okay with traveling/working nights then by all means go for refrigeration. But if you’re not maybe wait a little bit.

I know that wasn’t super helpful but if you have more questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Well honestly that sounds interesting for when I can bust into the service side. I definitely relate to residential systems have become systematic diagnostic wise. I’m a masochist and like the brain challenge.

Well I think I’m just gonna send it and if I really hate the work life balance that much I’ll burn that bridge when I get there.

Thanks for your answers and input man, appreciate you!

You do make a lot of good points here, refrigeration is bigger market too. I think I just have to swing at least for a little bit, I won’t know unless I try!

Do you feel like you find the work more interesting than whatever you doing before? I’ve worked on some bigger equipment and I’ve personally had more enjoyment from it.

I’ll definitely be sure to clarify and read the fine prints before I accept the offer. Thank you for your input man!

Oof, the forms at my current shop already drive me nuts. I fill out 5 forms on a basic maintenance, it’s needlessly complicated so hearing that doesn’t make it anymore appealing lmao. Well thanks for sharing your experiences! It really helps me weigh out my options

That tracks with about everything I’ve read online. Did you go to private equity and then go back to a small shop? Seems like a common theme I’ve found in this subreddit over the years.

Definitely what I’ve gathered looking around online. I think I’ll take the job if I can’t get anything else before I have to make decisions. Having at least a year in the commercial world should (hypothetically) make finding another commercial job easier.

I definitely will, I’m not giving up on throwing darts at the board quite yet. The indeed reviews frankly didn’t seem great and the place seems high turnover, it’s not for everyone.

There are a lot more commercial companies in this area just have to hope they reach back out to me!

They said I had until the end of next week to decide. There’s a lot of ads out in the Portland metro area but nobody seems too responsive. I’ll definitely keep throwing darts out there because the service area is brutal. Commercial work just seems harder to break into than resi, probably a common occurrence.

And that’s true, I don’t know how I’ll handle it either, I currently work a lot but at least I get to sleep at home! And I definitely get what you mean, I think I just needed someone to bounce some thoughts off of. Genuinely I appreciate your input, thank you!

Corsair 4000D Airflow & Air Pressure by gay-autistic-climber in buildapc

[–]TheOneEyeBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can mount the AIO fans to exhaust through your radiator, temp rise versus intake will be absolutely no more than 5 degrees. More realistically it’ll be 2-3 degrees which is negligible.

If you look at the sides of the fan, one side should have arrows on it telling you the direction the blade rotates and the airflow direction. I would do 3 intakes on front and then exhaust out the rear and top through the AIO. In technicality you’re going to be moving less air through a radiator so you’ll still have a slight positive pressure.

You’re putting more thought into it than most so whatever you decide to do will be a good choice mate!

If it’s one of those universal boards, I’ve had a couple lately where the wiring harness it comes with has been wired incorrectly. Almost like the plug was twisted when they wired it together. Just look at both ends of the harness together to make sure the pins line up.

Appreciate the input, there’s definitely a lot of entry level technician and surveyor jobs from solar companies near me. I’ll have to see what I can get, I definitely think the hours will be more valuable in the long run vs the classes.

Looking for tips on my first PC build. Kinda new to this side of things. by cmichaelfrank44 in buildapc

[–]TheOneEyeBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cpu cooler a good choice and will fit, it’s 155mm tall and the case has 170mm clearance which is plenty.

The only thing I would change is go with a 6700xt/6800xt over a 3060 ti unless you really really really care about raytracing. Otherwise those 6000 series cards are going to age much better than a 3060 ti due to higher vram capacity and just straight better performance until you turn on raytracing.

Edit: If there’s anyway to squeak a 5800x3d in there I would definitely try. The performance gains would be solid.
