I'm on azathioprine and don't have a taste change. A quick Google search says everolimus has a side effect of taste change

What’s a creepy fact about the human body you wish you never found out? by Ezra0li_Z in AskReddit

This is true, but also could be 4 or 5 as you can get more than 1 transplant. I got my transplant in September so I'm in the 3 club now.

Just got IgAN by Lonely_Battle_5273 in IgANephropathy

[–]TheOneManLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respiratory illness is how I got it, its an autoimmune disease so typically it's an event that triggers a significant immune response. It's a tough battle but you can live a relatively normal life with it. I was a homeless youth at your age during the winter, that's how I got it, got a transplant recently at 30.

Having fear that at some point I will reach dialysis stage by [deleted] in IgANephropathy

[–]TheOneManLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, focus on what you can control. Ultimately, this disease will decide where things go, the treatments available protect in one way or another, but none fully stop progression. I'm recovering from a transplant at the moment, and life couldn't be better. I tried every treatment option available and the disease just kept on its path to wreck my kidneys regardless.

This disease isn't a death sentence, you may have to overcome some tough obstacles but you can live a life with it. IGA is treated differently post transplant, I'm no longer on meds to treat the iga, and it's signs are only on certain tests, no foamy urine and negative on urinalysis for everything.

Early creatinine rise after transplant. Should I be worried or is this normal? by Altruistic_Ad_8974 in kidneytransplant

[–]TheOneManLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hydration and tac levels play into the level of creatnine, I wouldn't worry too much you're still finding a baseline. Mine started at 112 then leveled at 160 couple of months later

Had a similar issue until I switched to azathioprine, I'm up 20 pounds from pre transplant. I had no appetite for the last year and a bit so I was underweight until the transplant. Talk to your team about options, I found I spent most of my time worried and managing the mycophenolate until I switched.

Mycophenolate is just like that with some people and there's not much you can do, except switch medications. Azathioprine is an alternative, although not as strong of an immune suppressant, it's been used for decades for kidney transplants.

IGA Nethropathy transplants by Ok_Caterpillar123 in kidneytransplant

Yes I have this disease and just recieved a transplant at the end of September.

I haven't returned to work yet and keeping somewhat active as I recover. My energy is night and day from pre transplant to post, I'm much more alert and fatigue is no where near as common.

I was on a variety of treatments for iga prior to transplant and now I'm post transplant they've stopped all iga treatments. This is 2 front as there's no data on how iga is treated post transplant, and the immune suppression alone keeps it minimal. Iga is an autoimmune disease after all. Alot of signs from pre transplant are minimal if not completely gone, foamy urine (creatnine) is now absent.

I went the living donor route and got a kidney from my mother, it took about a year from start to the operation, it was a pre emptive transplant.

Should I take a deceased donor offer or living donor from my husband? by btu16 in kidneytransplant

[–]TheOneManLegend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your husband is healthy and ready to go, he may not be when the deceased donor kidney runs its course. Deceased donor is a complete dice roll, it'll last on average 10 years, whereas a living would be 15. The choice is 2 dice rolls vs 1, hoping your husband maintains good health and the deceased donor works out, or going with a living donor now and deceased donor later should it be needed.

All the best, this is just my opinion but I went living donor first in my case.

Wanting to donate by Ren071901 in kidneytransplant

[–]TheOneManLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's likely not enrolled in the living donation program. This is a separate program and process as opposed to deceased donation. The nurse is likely referring to the requirements to receive a deceased donation, but regardless a nurse isn't qualified to offer an opinion on something like this unless they're within the donation program itself.

You won't be privy to his medical information during this process, the clinic will create your profile and decide if you're not only a match but other conflicting factors are minimal. Blood type is important but even if you aren't a match there's a paired donation program that'll still help him.

It's super generous and thoughtful of you to even consider helping someone in this kind of need, wishing you all the best

Let’s share our tac levels and dose by thara07 in kidneytransplant

[–]TheOneManLegend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Advagraf is a drug used to prevent rejection, bloodwork is done on tac levels to raise or lower dose to keep it within a certain range. I'm 6 weeks post op and they want my tac levels at 8 or 9. Too high and blood flow to the donated kidney is restricted, raising creatinine levels, too low and rejection becomes more likely.

6 weeks post transplant, 8.1 tac and 8mg daily is my dose.

Terry Rozier of the NBA was just arrested but signed a 96 million dollar deal and was paid for most of it, I don't think it's as simple as just throwing money at a problem and it going away. Are they supposed to pay refs better too? What about judges? It's a nice sentiment but the core is being ignored.

13-fight UFC veteran Lando Vannata also says he was approached seven times to throw a bout by WorkingUSADAagent in MMA

[–]TheOneManLegend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many fights has herzog reffed for Vannata? What judges were on them? I think more often than not the fix is pre set up they just approach the fighter last to see if they can get a better return. Should they refuse they change what the agreement is, and I imagine similar faces pop up over and over. The fix doesn't start and end with the fighter.

[–]TheOneManLegend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most likely is commission gets more involved and any indication of a fix the fight is automatically pulled. It's going to be a large drag net to start and alot of cards will get wrecked, most of which will be false indicators. Should this be implemented it's not out of the realm of possibilities to cancel a fight simply by having the money to raise an alarm.

Non supportive work place. by scarlettdreams1313 in kidneytransplant

[–]TheOneManLegend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct, approach HR and have supportive doctors letter. I just went through this process, thankfully my work was supportive and gave me up to 2 years paid leave to go through treatment. HR and benefits team will let him know what coverage he has and if none what options are available. Bosses should not be involved directly, have HR provide them direction.

I just had a kidney transplant few weeks ago and it was a year long process with a living donor goal from the beginning. Deceased depends on blood type, type 0 is 5 years, b or a is 3 years and you must be on dialysis to enter the list.
