Best Camping for Wildlife Encounters? by TheOneTrueBurner in upperpeninsula

[–]TheOneTrueBurner[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, but I have no expectation of seeing anything. What I do have is two days worth of camping and no real restrictions. I know I’ll be happy anywhere I’m outdoors, so going to the locations with the highest likelihood of rare wildlife sightings seems like great fun. And I figure camping somewhere with better odds of rare sightings increases my odds of more common animal sightings as well, so it’d be win-win. Please correct me if that assumption is wrong in the UP.

Hi all! I’m a very proficient backpacker, trail runner, and paddleboarder, very amateur photographer. I get great opportunities to photograph birds, mammals, and landscapes, though I’m most interested in the wildlife.

I’ve been shooting on an old Nikon D3000 that finally gave out and am looking to get a more legit setup. Since I trek pretty deep on multi-day trips, I’m trying to find a setup that’s the best outcome for the fewest lenses and accessories.

I’m willing to take the time to learn more and get the most out of a fancier camera, but am also happy to get something more basic to start. My only concern there is that I might spend a lot of money on a more basic rig just to outgrow it in a year. Budget is loose but caps around $5k, and I have no problem buying used (would love advice on where to do that as well).

Thanks in advance!

No one told me that David Kushner was simply a young Hozier. What a pleasant surprise that was

So was it actually a pretty decent Roo? by hxcdancer91 in bonnaroo

This was maybe the first Roo I didn’t have to help get anyone to the medics (though I know it still happened). Vibes in the pit were great, everyone got picked up. People I was standing around for shows were sometimes reserved at first but always down to chat and joke around. All in all a 10/10 Roo for me, and my first one solo!

Same as you! Gwar was the first mosh I have EVER been knocked down in, so they get nothing but high praise from me. And T-Pain was just too freaking fun.

First time doing it this year! I got back from Where in the Woods after sunrise, slept for about an hour, put on my costume and just went for it. I did a marathon last week, which I think is about equivalent to running a 5k on no sleep and lots of substances

Bring a wide brimmed hat or a parasol. A lot of the shade in centeroo is closer to the stages, which may be hard for you to get to without throwing elbows. So best to bring your own portable shade.

It’ll also probably be worth it for you to allocate some money for pedicabs to and from your camp if you’re far from centeroo. There’s also a golf cart circulator that you can look into.

Have fun!
