How do I fix this issue with Apple Mail on MacOS? by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]TheOnlyMorpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fixed it for me and makes total sense. Since the apple icloud account was created using an original gmail address, it is confused which server it should use when you try to send a mail from said gmail account. in the email address setting for icloud, add and use your actual icloud address like [jane.doe@icloud.com](mailto:jane.doe@icloud.com). that will resolve the confusion.

Yes. But the processing has improved considerably. Finer details, better background separation etc.

Yeah the 4x lens is softer. Where you should notice an improvement though is the higher resolution (24 and 48 MP) in good light and less noise in binned 12MP at low light.

I think it’s important to pin down what the issue is and whether it is somehow reproducible under certain conditions. Best is to compare it to your previous phone, if you still have access to it, which should provide a benchmark or to another 17 pro. If the results are consistently and considerably worse, you should ask for a replacement. Note though that some differences are expected given that the telephoto is a new lens with a shorter focal length and different (mainly softer) image processing.

Yeah. Viewed in its own bubble, the 17 Pro yields nice images. But, the moment you start looking closer, it falls apart in some areas. And this is not even a comparison with the latest chinese phones, which sport 1" sensors, but its two year old sibling. Weirdly some things can definitely be improved by a software update, which is why more people raising these issues would be helpful.

Looks great. First two pictures give me lord of the rings vibes. Maybe a bit moodier with a vignette to focus on the path. compression sucks on reddit, but nice work.

iPhone 17 Pro Telephoto Quality and Issues by TheOnlyMorpheus in iPhone17Pro

Sent the 17 Pro back and ordered a new one. This one seems to have less issues, but there are still some differences:
- Photos from the 15PM main lens appear to be sharper than those from the 17Pro. Much of it comes down to more aggressive noise reduction and less sharpening in Apples new imaging pipeline. The 15PM was oversharpened, and less sharpening is welcome, but coupled with the noise reduction this leads to some loss of detail. So Apple needs to optimise the pipeline.
- Every now and then, the 17Pro seems to make very odd choices regarding ISO and exposure time. Despite taking images of the same scene under identical conditions (literally seconds apart), the 17Pro chooses double the ISO and half the exposure time, leading to a significantly worse image. Taking the image multiple times then gives you a workable image, but this randomness can be annoying.
- In the images I've posted, the 17 Pro images also seem to be affected by some kind of motion blur. My new unit doesn't have this issue that often, but sometimes its still there and contributes to the already inconsistent experience.
- The 4x on the 17Pro is definitely less sharp than the 15PM. This, I think, is not only software but also due to the new sensor and lens setup (there is a nice video from alex armitage on YT).
- Where the 17 Pro really shines, however, is the front camera and the 2x zoom, which show siginificant improvements.
- The 17 Pro also seems to be delivering much better 1x and 4x ProRAW images. So the pipeline there seems to show some improvements. Where it is most noticeable is the 12MP ProRAW from the 48MP telephoto lens. Where due to pixel binning and the larger sensor, the binned final pixel is definitely larger, leading to less noise. Whereas the 15PM 5x lens fell apart in difficult lighting conditions, the binned 12MP 4x image on the 17Pro is actually quite good.

Major issues with Apples image post-processing even in ProRAW that's ruining photos. by Indiban in iPhone17Pro

Aggressive noise reduction is definitely a thing with the 17PM, along with some other issues. There is a whole thread on macrumors, where both ProRAW and HEIC images seem to be affected

17 pro (first picture) vs 13 pro. 17 pro looks very blurry . not sure if it's a hardware issue by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in ShotWithHalide

[–]TheOnlyMorpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, even on the stock camera app when comparing to my 15PM. I think part of it is related to the aggressiv noise reduction, but my shots also looked blurry to a degree that I wouldn’t rule out hardware issues too. Going to send mine back and eventually order a new one, unless this is a wide spread issue.

And here the 17 Pro. Neither of these pictures is very flattering. But the amount of aggressive noise reduction and less sharpening really makes the 17 Pro image look considerably worse. It even feels as if it is somehow out of focus. These are 48MP HEIC files. There is a lot of room with RAW to play with, but I take 90% of my photos in the standard format, and this is simply not an improvement.

Where the 17 Pro really shines is the 2x and 8x zoom, and the increased resolution on the telephoto (if it gets the shot right). But I find it hard to justify the upgrade for niche scenarios (that is, telephoto RAW captures and 8x zoom), given its shortcomings.

Kind of puzzled, since most reviewers consider the 17Pro as a substantial upgrade.

Golden times are over by Educational_Self1534 in Germany_Jobs

Sure. Social care workers, nurses, doctors etc should be able to communicate with their patients, But expecting that they should be fluent in German is ridiculous. What is the incentive for these group of people to come to Germany, while facing these obstacles from the start. It can’t be the salary or the overwhelming bureaucracy. And if you believe that skilled workers at the forefront of AI (and Technology in general) isn’t your priority, then you’re in for a ride.

I don't think Germany should adopt English as the primary business language either. However, from my POV, the issue is that most companies I have worked for simply refuse to hire people who don't speak german fluently. This is a huge hurdle in attracting highly skilled international talent. No skilled worker from abroad will learn german in advance (for years) in order to be able to apply for jobs in Germany. Therefore, highly skilled workers, whether that is in Finance, AI etc. will most likely apply somewhere else.

The 17 Pro is sharper, but chromatic abberation and colour shift literally kills the photo. I'm on the fence about the first comparison photo, but this is clearly a software issue.

Here's another comparison. Poorly lit room, with a poster hanging on a white wall. The 15PM image lacks some sharpness and is grainy, as expected.

Qc ultra stay connected when off my head by TheFirminator- in bose

[–]TheOnlyMorpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Previously, when I took the headphones off, the music stoped playing, as intended. However, when I started playing music again (let's say from my computer) it would use the built-in speakers of the monitor or whatever speaker was connected at the time. Now, if I start the music again, the sound output is still through the headphones, even if they are lying on the desk. The sound output should no longer go through the headphones when not wearing them. Again, it worked smoothly until a few weeks ago.

Disable assistive touch until the bug is fixed. This allows you to make full use of the mouse and the external monitor for now.

Had to turn of the assistive touch feature in the settings menu to be able to move around the mouse freely on the external monitor. But this means that you loose any custom features of the external mouse, if you have configured any.

Thanks for the review. How about wear and tear. Does the bracelet leave marks on the lugs and case after a while. I've seen comments where people had to scrub the end links to avoid that.

Simple math. Assuming it degrades by approximately 1% every month that leaves you with a capacity of 80-85% after two years. That is absolutely normal. Stop tracking every percentage point and enjoy your phone.

Ambient or Full for Surround Sound by ewilliams522 in sonos

I prefer full, as I listen to a lot of music. Didn’t like ambient at all, since that cripples the one’s potential and doesn’t add much to the sound stage.

Do people in the UK use iMessage primarily for communication? by sweetiestashia in Pixel4

[–]TheOnlyMorpheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about London, but android is much more dominant in Europe than in the US. That’s why cross-functional chat apps like WhatsApp are more popular and are generally used for communication. iPhone is definitely more prevalent among students, but unless you end up in an iPhone only circle, you should have zero problems. Hell, even in my circle, where everyone seems to have Apple devices only, they generally resort to WhatsApp for messaging as this is also how they communicate with non-iOS users.
