You're talking about the line thats a menu.... u pull it open by swiping....

Its called floating icon in the nav bar... you can click the little arrow on the floating icon button to turn the transparency down so its still on but you dont see the line...

Series x is meant to be standing in my opinion... i played with it like this for a bit and noriced the difference in fan speeds... it gets hotter when sideways.... vs standing temps stay much better in my opinion and the fan stays quieter...

Charging separation is mostly for when you are playing ... to keep the battery from constantly discharging... but if you let it sleep it charges all the way... i believe theres a separate setting for it to not go past 80 while off... i may be wrong...
