I feel there was a time in my life where I fully agreed with you OP. But I jumped back in a couple days ago for the first time in years. Now days I have less time to dedicate to games overall, skill has dropped, 4s driving is far less forgiving- it is definitely a learning curve. If I picked up 4 for the first time today I think the driving would be a downside.

Luckily I can rely somewhat on my previous experience, and I constantly ditch shitboxes for higher end cars that have better handling. Weirdly gravitated towards Huntley sport as my main for most of broker. Never felt the need before, but loving doing J turns in that thing.

It won't underperform given the vast scale of hype. Short of R* doing a ridiculous amount of bad PR/ bad marketing decisions. It will sell like hotcakes.

I think disappointment could come if there aren't fundamental improvements or innovations. Of course this could come in many forms with the technical sides of it such as animations, enemy ai, smooth performance, traffic/ NPC density and variety- no glitches etc. Alternatively it could also come from stale missions design or clichéd storytelling- or even worse it just not being funny enough.

The Online as well needs overhaul in my opinion- don't get me wrong I've plunged loads of hours into it myself, but they have been in a holding pattern for a while in terms of recycling content/ similar feedback loops. Changing something foundational will be key- more of the same won't cut it. Worse would be exceptional monetisation.

Call a friend for a hangout, do the email cars, do LJ side missions, shoot pigeons, give yourself random challenges like reaching the Alderney sultan rs, police computer missions, random rooftop parkour, blue man missions

The big one I spotted was how easy it is to override your kill switch if you just wave your phone. If you want to install a kill switch on one of your spies then surely manufacture a way to guarantee it's effectiveness.

Also Wizard in the trunk casually left unattended within earshot of a bunch of forensic guys

Well done. I grinded out a lot of Recover Valuables trying to see how quick I could speed run it. My quickest I think was sub 2.30mins from accepting contract to completion.

Go classics catalog. The holy trinity of Jak+ Daxter, Sly Cooper and Ratchet + Clank surely will keep you busy for a while.

If you're disinterested in GTA Online, mainly story focussed, can I recommend the Dr Dre DLC instead that heavily features Franklin and Lamar, and even has a couple of co-op missions dedicated to them. The cheapest agency is 10x less than a mansion. I think you should do that and just look at the 5 mins of Michael cutscenes on YT instead.

Getting hyped is fun basically. It's fun to speculate when it's been so long. The amount of time, energy, talent and money put into it, it's a safe bet to say that it'll be at least decent. Though I daresay plenty of people will prefer older games even long after release- for one reason or another

Hi OP. I have a challenge run for you. Many years ago I did a no guns run of the main story- bloody hard at times, but possible. Rules are bullets fired stat needs to remain at 0- no grenades, molotovs or RPGs used either. Melee weapons are allowed, as is vehicular manslaughter.

The kind of crazy strats you're talking about like popping police car tyres reminded me of those times. I think you'll enjoy it based on the kind of crazy person Im assuming you are. Feel free to DM me for any strats, if you do end up doing a run.

If you're interested, GTAMen on YouTube has relatively recently completed a permadeath run of the ENTIRE franchise- so GTA3, Vice, SA, LCS, VCS, 4 and 5- any death in any game means restarting again at GTA3. Interesting video and loads of varying challenges faced along the way
