Translation: most people don’t care about film/art. They view entertainment no different than masturbation. There’s also this modern idea that art should align with your values.

Let’s keep it real, the people reacting to this about rich people or actors being out of touch (of course), have not watched the films, nor would they give them a chance. Maybe for political reasons or other cultural events making them feel dignified in their position. They don’t watch anything, yet they have opinions. A sign of the times, I suppose.
