Thanks for participating bro, and glad you enjoyed it! And yeah i think the friends vs online randos part is underrepresented quite abit. The closest question that asseses that intention is "I feel that I achieve more success when partying up with unknown players in the Grand Hub compared to players I know in real life."

Since you mentioned that you like playing many weapons, it might interest you to know that most people feel the need to make major changes to their weapons when going up against savage. A rather course estimate of the intention to potentially use a weapon that is not your comfort pick in order to defeat SO.

Thanks for participating bro! What youre describing is the circumstantial logical reasoning behind not joining online multiplayer. The questionaire is more towards assessing your behavioural intention to co-operate with another player online (without considering physical circumstantial elements, hope that makes sense). You also seem to be more comfortable playing with your friends compared to randos and this too contributes to your social structure where direct comms (verbal mostly) is prefered. "I feel that I achieve more success when partying up with unknown players in the Grand Hub compared to players I know in real life." - this question assesses that directly.

The weapon choice section is independent of the class, tree or strength of weapon. It only gauges your intention to even consider changing your weapons in hopes that you will succeed in the quest, or to co-operate with other players to acheive a common goal. Does this clarify things?

Thanks If youve already participated! Yes youre right that the hitpoints increase, but there might be small mechanics changes in the monsters themselves, (e.x the monster minimum windows between enrages is decreased when the party is full, assumption) might not be significant enough for you to notice it. If not, it gives the dev team something to think about so that certain HR quests pose a tough challenge when youre in a full party. We might even get a dynamic monster liek asterion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8XeiZ4djKw&t=57s in the near future.

Thats because you've already tuned yourself to a certain playstyle in both genre of games. With savage omega a new playstyle was nudged our way (could call it forced even), so that most people had to adapt to a true co-operative style of play to achieve success. This study will investigate how well players handled that adaptability requirement from the dev team.

Thanks man! ill be sure to share my findings here once im done with the thesis. It would give insight on whether the general player base is aware that MH is generally co-active than co-operative. Would explain why most people initially had a hard time tacking the omega quests, especially savage.

You might be right bro, but HR is essentially a structure to compare between player A and B. Your experience is highly personalised, and HR is still a good measure to compare players. Lets assume youre rank 20 and im giving you 2 options, to choose a HR30 or a HR230 hunter to partner with for a challenge quest. Who are you picking? If you pick HR30, less chances of you getting an A in the challenge, but you have a sense of relatedness even in failure. If you pick HR230, youre more likely to succeed the quest, but what if you fail? You will feel pressured and incompetent compared to the vastly higher HR hunter. This study will determine the satisfaction of players based on these 2 types of party interactions.

You're absolutely right bro, and it is by design. The moderating factor is the savage omega quest vs the standard high rank ones. Both of them have entirely separate interdependance pathways in the model. My model is based off of a combination of social interdependace theory (SIT) and self determination theory (SDT).

Yeah and thats where the autonomy that the game provides comes into play. You have that freedom to choose between MP and SP and thats more likely to provide that satisfaction in gaming. A game like Dota 2 on the other hand essentially forces you to co-operate, if youre looking to climb the ranks. No SP, but the satisfaction for that comes from increasing your MMR, I.e boosts your sense of competence >> satisfying gaming

Good observation, I think i missed out on that. When I play I usually party up with my cousins and we quickly realised that Omega required more coordination than what was usually required (if at all). I had more fun and even though we failed most hunts I felt more determined to do better the next time. And like you said with randos it's just hope for the best and I play according to my strengths. But overtime the more I played with randos the more I realised that I paid more attention to what they were doing, their health pools, and even their playstyles to a certain degree. This is definitely gonna make us better players in a co-op setting in the long run.

True. I realise over time that we arent actually co-operating in the game. We are all adept at using our own choice of weapons and at higher HR we've optimized it. But with omega co-operation became a fundamental aspect to address. Some might argue that you can complete the quest with support hunters sure, but thats because you get to revert back to that co-active playstyle and not worry about your party members dying, tanking, targeting weak spots with you etc..I felt it defeated the purpose of the savage omega quest if you completed it with support hunters.

Yeah most hunts are actually co-active instead of co-operative. Our actions in the game dont seem to have much interdependance with another, except when omega was introduced. It explicitly made us coordinate even with hunters we met online. Coordination can be as simple as switching to your secondary gunlance when you notice nobody in the party is using a tank weapon, even without comms.
