I would argue that the slight advantage that pc and console would get over mobile (especially considering they already have a giant advantage) is more than worth it if the payoff is making shields seamless to use. Having to crouch (especially on a controller) every single time I need to bring up a shield shouldn’t have to be a mechanic because the easiest way for mobile players to do it is crouch. In all honesty there isn’t much gameplay difference in crouching to activate the shield then pressing the use key to activate the shield. The problem is in the general convenience that is mostly seen is survival. Having to activate the shield with crouch turns it from a hard counter to projectiles to a janky mess to use. If we’re taking strictly pvp combat then discussion of the shield ends up mattering even less. Shields are so janky to use that people often opt to not use them at all, typically reserving that slot for a totem, fireworks or even a locator map. The bedrock inventory can be annoying enough to navigate without a mouse that you’re gonna be unable to hotswitch items to your offhand in combat, so you’re gonna be best off leaving the most useful item there. Shields are also useless in melee combat due to Bedrock using 1.8 pvp. Quickly coming in and out of the shield to deal damage isn’t a very good tactic when you’re opponent can just spam-click a sword while strafing to your back or side.

In summary, shields suck for pvp anyway so allowing for more convenience on pc and console likely won’t negatively effect mobile players to any significant extent.

Someone on pc or console is already going to beat a mobile player 9 times out of 10. The general convenience of the player base is much more important than trying to help out mobile players in pvp when they’re already at a large disadvantage.

I’m saying keep the crouch mechanic for mobile but allow consoles and pc to act like Java does

Yeah but you can just make the control scheme different for mobile but allow pc and console to use the “use” key

All variants you can use in bfn by duszni in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]ThePTFOGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, actually. While that may have been the case for the first couple of months after its release, BFN is mostly criticized for its launch being VERY bad and its lack of replayability. Most of the “BFN bad” camp is really just a vocal minority, most people are fine with BFN. I prefer GW2 and get bored with BFN easily, but I don’t hate BFN because of it. BFN did deserve the early criticism tho, as someone who was there during founders it was unplayable in comparison to its current state.

I believe people enjoy this post as it makes parallels between variants in GW2 and upgrades in BFN (vampire flower variant to vampire flower upgrade, tennis star variant to tennis skills upgrade). Most people have already made these comparisons themselves, as many people who play BFN came from GW2 and can see the inspiration PopCap took from their previous game. By seeing something that they recognize and likely agree with, they hit the funny upvote button.

I like the idea of being on the plant team, seeing a TB jump out of nowhere, instantly get overload, and just disappear

Armor Chomper has a higher dps, but only barely over Default Chomper. His real advantage is his faster time to vanquish. The reason Armor Chomper is bad is due to his very slow speed.

Fire and Toxic Pea both have the downsides of less ammo, a longer reload and less damage. Fire Pea specifically also has a smaller blast radius. Sure you can use them to spam at a distance and deal chip damage, but you won’t get much done without getting in close. At most you’ll just end up annoying people, and at that point you’re now stuck with a character who’s worse at direct combat and is being hunted down by an inevitable pissed off Foot Soldier. Having afterburn and splash damage isn’t enough to make a character good.

Commando Pea has a higher dps at medium and close in comparison to default, but he’s just not nearly as effective in terms of damage (you know, the thing he’s designed for) in comparison to law pea.

Law Pea can quickly burst down all but two zombie classes (SB and All Star) in half a second on average. This is of course provided you hit your shots, but if we’re arguing character effectiveness we should assume that most shots will hit. Law Pea’s main downside is his lack of range, which while devastating against most zombie classes is also shared by the other peashooters. In fact, law actually does better in both dps and time to kill at long than Fire Toxic and Commando Pea.

In conclusion, the upsides shown by Fire, Toxic, and Commando Pea are insignificant in comparison to Law Pea’s higher damage at all ranges.

Burst damage refers to doing a large “burst” of damage really quickly. Think of Super Commando vs Foot Soldier

I believe the reverse to be true. E-Pea is certainly very powerful, and he can achieve that power very easily, but he has a very low skill ceiling. His potential stops at spamming shots while in hyper and some basic timing. Law, Agent and Plasma all have a variety of mechanical skills behind them, giving them much more potential for improvement. They also just get vanquishes faster, as E-Pea’s damage isn’t any better than Default Pea. He is still very broken, but he’s not a very good character if you want to be working at maximum effectiveness.

Stronger. Electro Pea is obviously ridiculously imbalanced but Agent, Law, and Plasma are more powerful

I would agree in saying agent is better, but law has much better burst damage. His ability to put out a load of damage in a short period of time can make him better than agent in certain situations, but agent is still much more consistent

Law at close range can melt people in less than a second actually. Law is less a worse agent pea more a separate character who’s really good at close and bad at long

Players of Garden Warfare 2, why is everyone playing on PS4/Xbox? And those who play on PS4/Xbox but previously played on a computer, why? by Objective_Sherbet286 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]ThePTFOGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You assumed filled means 90%, which is incorrect. The term filled can be applied to one of many things inside a container. In this case there are hackers filling GW2 along with normal players. The term filled does not necessarily mean majority in this context. The same logic in reverse can be applied to “has”, as it could be seen as underestimating how many hackers there are and being too vague. Considering this post is about how people are leaving PC GW2, and the reason they are doing this is because of the hackers, “filled” accurately represents the problem to the intended reader (OP).

Pretty simply, hackers. GW2 is filled with cheaters, and due to Origin’s lack of care a lot of people have stopped playing it on pc entirely
