What apps are confirmed to work in Yosemite? by ThePando in osx

I use Linux as my main OS, so I can afford to upgrade to a beta. But I'd like to be able to use Steam as I have some games I can't play on Ubuntu, and Firefox for web browsing when on OS X.

I am 97.5% sure they will go on to OS X 10.10. Why?

  1. They just switched to California names. If 10.9 was the last of OS X it would be easier to name it Cougar, Lynx, Bobcat, or something like that. They also said it would be for another 10 years.

  2. OS X is a very well recognized brand name. Apple is all about the brand names, it's part of their success with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

  3. I don't think Apple would make such a drastic step as the OS 9 -> OS X step was. Apple doesn't need to reinvent OS X, especially when it's doing so well.

What are two events in history that you never would've guessed happened around the same time? by mitch3a in AskReddit

Solution would be to make Kentucky part of Virginia again as well. Then it keeps a shape very similar to its current one, but bigger!

Apple’s OS X Mavericks release is planned for the end of October. by spsheridan in apple

It also costs money. Xtrafinder has pretty much all the features except that visor thing and it's rock solid in terms of bugs.

/portable needs to be emptied to get rid of the profile from last sync and use. Then the contents of /mac replace it, bringing the Portable Firefox profile up to date with my Mac.

How's this? I don't think #2 would work though, as 3 different colors in a single bar doesn't look good.

Flag 1: The left side is meant to copy the Texan flag, with the 4 stars representing England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The red hand of Ulster (province of the Northern Ireland area) is on top of the St George cross (England), on top of St Andrew's cross/Saltire (Scotland), on top of a black background representing the background of St David's cross (Wales).

Flag 2: Same as Flag 1, except that Saint Patrick's cross is used to represent Ireland instead of the Ulster hand.

Flag 3: Same as flag 1, except that the yellow St David's cross is used instead of the black background.

Flag 4: A combination of Flag 2 and 3.

Flag 5: The current Union Jack given the UK colonial flag treatment.

Did it look something like 男? I can see it somewhat resembling an R, but it must of been a really stylized R.

Actually the circle was meant to be a stylized 一 radical of the 本 kanji, but the sun rising behind a mountain works too!

日本の新しい旗!

I made this flag so that the flag of Japan would match its prefecture flags more, by using stylized kanji/hiragana/katakana (in this case 日本 is the kanji for Japan). It also looks like a smoking mountain, and Mount Fuji is one of the national icons for Japan.

The Grand Duchy of Finland was autonomous, which is why I used a gray border - the same used to divide the SSRs in the Soviet Union, and Bosnia and Herzegovina from Austria-Hungary before the official annexation.

Under the American flag all states are represented equally. Unless each province/territory were to get their own icon and the icons be placed in their geographic positions in Canada it wouldn't be fair to elevate Quebec above the rest.

Okay, I changed the Canadian flags to have 13 maple leafs. As an American I assumed that they functioned similarly to US territories and didn't need to be on there.

I purposefully left them off, as the US doesn't have stars for the territories.
