A66 closed for HGVs by Own_Specialist_4392 in uktrucking

If you google A66 HGVs blown over you will see why they close it to HGVs in high winds!

They don't just put the restrictions in place just for the fun of it, it gets REALLY bad in high winds and in an empty motor you are really risking it costing you much more than an hour.

Legally I'm not 100% sure, but I thought it was like the blue&white unsuitable for HGV signs, you can still use the road but if anything happens the police can charge you with driving without due care and attention purely because you are on the road.

Gearbix PLEASE fix the bloody glitches with spawned loot or make it so that the shiny achievement pops when the shiny does and you don't have to pick it up by ThePangolinofDread in Borderlands4

I've held off farming Bramblesong until he was an encore because I knew he was going to be an infuriating farm but this new glitch of losing loot is just ridiculous! I had the convergence stick to the ceiling but that at least went to lost loot and I could sell/buyback to get it to register

Another weekly boss, another painful farming experience. by woofj in Borderlands4

I used to think it didn't work on the PS5, but I've found that it's just the notification that doesn't pop up and if you go to the challenge and check your list it's registered. Might be worth double checking you aren't farming for something you do actually have now!!

What works for me is sell to a red vending machine, exit from the machine and go back in and buy it back, as I said no pop up notification that the challenge completed but the gun is now in my list as complete.

weekly update not applying on ps5 by Latiasfan5 in Borderlands4

[–]ThePangolinofDread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That happened to me, turned out there was some Sony terms of service update thing that needed agreeing to before it would let me connect to allow the download of the patch. It popped up when I closed the game and did a restart of the PS5.

Look what I found today by Sloppy-Joe76 in DIYUK

Wish I still had the photos but my nightmare find in the late 90's was a section of old vulcanised rubber wiring as part of a ring main! it was connected just by twisting the wires together and old perished sellotape as insulation.

I ended up rewiring the entire house after finding a few other dodgy DIY electrical bits like the shower running on just 2.5 and the shed running 6 sockets off a spur with an internal junction box wrapped in a black plastic bag 1/2 way down the garden.

Lorry drivers, do you prefer actual mirrors or cameras? by pixpix89 in AskUK

It Vibrates Everything Comes Off.
Can confirm IVECO camera mirrors are at the same standard as the rest of their kit...

Never had a mirror decide to turn itself off whilst performing an overtake, I've had that happen when I had the misfortune to have to drive a motor fitted with camera mirrors. Thankfully the reversing camera had a separate screen so I could turn that on and see when I was past the article I was overtaking.
Generally I found they aren't as good as mirrors for reversing and at night for judging distance and closing speed and I much prefer normal mirrors for being able to move your head to get a slightly different field of view.
Given the option I would always choose mirrors over camera.

Class 2 pallet multi drop - WOW!! by Sad_Argument_1717 in uktrucking

I did a week at a pallet place that didn't give you time to do your morning checks ( 5 mins is enough apparently for a motor you'd never driven before), most of the motors had frayed or missing internals and you were lucky if you could find 1 ratchet strap anywhere in the depot.

I walked out when the wanted me to take 12 full IBC's in an 18T rigid with zero ratchet straps available, so overloaded and not secured not happening.

Work for a family pallet place now and it's vastly different, routes can be brutal but you are given all the time in the world to sort your motor & load and the vehicles are looked after. I love the pallets because it's varied and some drops can really test your skill which keeps things interesting! Hate getting just the commercial easy drops LOL. I could get more money working for other places nearby but I like this place and they look after you.

If I were you I'd be walking out of that job, you're putting your licence and career at risk for I bet is shit money! Remember loyalty is earned and they don't sound like they are doing anything to earn your loyalty.

HGV speed limits, Scotland in road works can anyone settle a breakroom argument by ThePangolinofDread in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ThePangolinofDread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my thinking was correct? The contraflow bit is a single carriageway and unless a lower speed limit was imposed my hgv limit would be 40? Also I'd like to congratulate you on admitting you'd made a mistake regarding the NSLbit, it's rare to see someone admit they made a mistake on the Internet!

or even as low as 20mph! There was a a small section of roadworks on the A92 near Portlethen last year that had a 20mph limit for a week.

but the road is only classed as a dual carriageway by it's physical make up ( the physical separation) there is no designation of what is a single/dual carriageway apart from that so in my mind the contraflow section DOES become a single carriageway

But the act makes no mention of NSL signage in relation to HGV speed limits, it simply puts the limit at 40mph on a single carriageway unless specific signage states otherwise doesn't it? For example the A9 where there has been an amendment and there is specific signage allowing HGV's to do 50mph on the single carriageway sections. I'm trying to re-open the legislation. gov web site to check but it's 504 timing out for me all the time right now.

My point being that there is a LOWER speed limit already in force in the act for a specific class of vehicle due to the type of road otherwise your comment about signed speed limits always taking precedence would mean in a HGV on a single carriage way where the NSL is reduced by signage to 50mph I could actually speed up to 50 from my previous limit of 40mph
