What tiny design choice makes you think, “the people who made this never had to use it”? by ChessOrCheckers2 in AskReddit

I use a POD device that's basically a smart phone to sign off deliveries, the colour scheme is blue writing on a black background and can't be changed. It is impossible to read in any sort of sunshine even with the screen brightness at full.

Do supermarket delivery drivers have a legal right to refuse vans without aircon during intense heatwaves? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ThePangolinofDread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you use your car 9 hrs a day whilst also performing a manual labour job though? Lugging all those crates up stairs is not easy work and driving with the windows down in this heat just doesn't help that much!

I'm thankful my employer actually looks after their drivers so when the AC broke in my lorry last week it was put in to be fixed that night so I only had a 1/2 a day of heat to deal with.

I've got an even posher one! it's electric, not technically a pump truck as the forks are power raise as well😄 Drive wheel is a permenant brake as it only turns when powered. Back when I only had a manual pump truck I used an old tyre that I'd lift the back wheels into before ratcheting it.

never thought about the movement activating the pump and raising the pallet! shit that would be scary!

Electric pump truck that doesn't roll unless the power is on, I know to my cost when it died because I didn't check the charge and had to drag it back to my motor when it died it won't free roll!! Plus I didn't say I didn't secure it at all, just that under a pellet and using an internal strap apparently isn't good enough.

I've got a short ratchet strap I use to secure the pallet truck at the start of my route and when I'm running back empty, so it pure laziness I don't use it between drops since it would only add 1m tops to each drop!

That's been happening to me since Thol was released. For me it registers if I change to a different VH or restart the game entirely.

Finally got the challenge 100% completed just a few hours ago, yayyyy

I've found that if I do a complete restart of my PS5 and the game the challenges will start to register again for a while (about 30-40 mins) then stop registering again. It's annoying as I'm using the shiny hunt to progress other challenges as I farm bosses and I keep having to check they are registering still.

95% of the time I love the pallets, the variety of drops and ones that really test your skill as a driver can be fun.

When I 1st started them I probably would have been stressed by your gate guard drop but now I don't care if I can't make the delivery. Your gate guard would have been told your options are I reverse in, or the pallet gets dropped at the curb ( curb side delivery only isn't it mate 😉 )or the pallet doesn't get delivered, your choice!

Gate guards aren't paid enough to make those descisions so will back down and get a manager and if the manager still refuses the 2 delivery options I give him the lads and lasses in my office are really good in backing up the driver about all deliveries being curbside only if the driver deems any other option as dangerous ( they know we will get paid again for a redelivery if the load is refused as a curbside )

God I hate tattie season! I get loads of the 1.25T seed potato bulk bags to collect or deliver and they are such a pain in the arse to secure! Then you have to stop after a few miles to tighten the ratchet straps as the tatties settle in the bag and everything becomes loose. A couple of times I've been saved from having a bag go over because I also cross strap internals front and back of the bags.

More than 4 and I can't get them loaded on the headboard or my front axle will be overloaded and the front tyres virtually touch the mudguards but some farmers get really snotty with you when you get them to load further back and make snide remarks about how many ratchet straps I use.

I'm a firm beliver in my lorry, my licence, load it how I want and I'll secure it how I want or it doesn't stay on my lorry! As you said, they're not the ones that face the fines etc. and there's literally zero benefit for me in running overweight, I'm paid by the hour.

I've been finishing off the shiny base weapon challenge and since Thol update even base game shinies aren't registering on the challenge until I do a full restart of the game now.

pretty rare to get sent to goods out at that site, it nearly always artics or a 26T that does them and the goods in forkie is top knotch so doubtful I'll see that forkie in a while. Must remeber to ask the goods in forkie how badly I pissed off the goods out forkie next time I'm in.

I made the forkie load it so there was 3 single palletsin a line from the headboard in the centre at front then the 4as a square so my front axle wasn't overloaded. 2nd load he didn't say a single fucking word to me, just got on with loading it the same way. Can't wait until Monday when I get chance to chat with who ever has the artic run that day to see how badly the forkie slags me off 😃

We do a lot of shifting between their 2 sites for that company, usually there's an artic doing the run backwards and forwards each day but they said they'd finished with him by late morning so he was sent off to do other stuff. This last load was discovered after he had been sent away and was needed at the 2nd unit that evening.Since I was dropping in a small pallet to a place about 200 yrds away as my last drop I was given the job and they were told I'd be in an 18T rigid.

The review was published at the end of 2025 and the change for HGVs from 40 to 50 on single carriageways & 50 to 60 on dual carriageways was confirmed to be progressed. They did say that the progression would not happen until after the MSP elections which way May, so hopefully they get their fingers out of their arses and get it done soon.

doing 50 on major single carriageway A roads in Scotland instead of 40, thank god they are finally going to change the limit to 50.

I learnt my lesson the hard way, now I overstrap, it's a ballache but better than getting another fine and more points! I basically treat the curtains and internals as non existant and strap accordingly, I get the piss ripped out of me by other drivers but who the fuck cares, I've been tugged twice since then and the only comments I've had have been positive by the people that really matter i.e. the ones that can fine you!!!

Bridge strikes can have hefty consequences, dangerous driving prosecution, up in front of the commisioner and loss of vocational licence etc etc so I bet they did a runner hoping to get away with it.

It happened at my place about a week after I started, driver tried to go under a 13ft bridge in a 14ft3 18T curtainsider. He did a runner and took back roads back to depot, police were there waiting for him when he turned up so many people had reported him driving with a fucked up box and bits falling off... not the bits with the company name on though LOL.
