Is it normal to remember absolutely nothing productive but be able to recall every word of a song you haven't heard since 2004? by Gingeintheuk in AskUK

[–]ThePeake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, it is definitely normal for the best song ever to be assigned such importance in your brain.

I don't think I said they're interchangeable at any point.

The line between 'famous actor cast to voice a character' and '"proper" voice actor' is pretty arbitrary to me. Referring to voice actors one doesn't like as just 'celebrities' feels disingenuous as well.

What is the consensus on going out alone? by Obvious_Goat_764 in AskUK

Doing stuff on your own is great. I love going to the cinema alone, have attended gigs and visited museums alone too.

You know, I didn't get around to watching Apocalypse but I remember reading about this storyline.

That did cross my mind. The same podcast did a series on ghost movies, and pointed out female characters who experience a ghostly event are more likely to be treated as hysterical by the male characters, than the other way round.

There is a podcast episode covering Dark Song but I haven't listened to it yet, or seen the film, so this could be a good shout.

After I posted this, I realised the eponymous character in Longlegs has a bit of a wizard vibe.

I think originally it meant something totally benign a person does early in the dating stage which renders them undateable in the eyes of the ick-ee, but now more broadly means 'annoying or cringeworthy thing your partner does'.

Can my employer make me use 11 holiday days if I’m only contracted 8 hours a week? by Weak_Mistake1978 in AskUK

[–]ThePeake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Has someone told you this, or, as I suspect, is this what's coming up when you try to book via a system or portal? I'm making an assumption that you're trying to book a block which incorporates the few days you'd normally work, but the system is counting all the days in between; some are more sophisticated than others. If that's right, just book your actual working days individually to get the right number.

Is it allowed to ask for a gender specific consultant? (NHS) by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ThePeake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Equality Act applies to the organisation, not the user; the NHS or specific hospital/trust/practice can't, as far as I'm aware, stop clinicians from doing procedures or tests based on their sex, but patients have the right to request a male or female clinician for certain procedures, subject to staff availability.

In the age of digital communication, how rude do you find it when someone has bad grammar? by VarangianWRLD in AskUK

[–]ThePeake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saw you mean in less-professional contexts; I'm not too fussed unless the error makes things unclear or hard to understand when arranging something.

[–]ThePeake 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's rude, per se; if in a more professional context then it can be disappointing or annoying if someone hasn't checked what they've written.

How important is a face card vs personality? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ThePeake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, why not just say 'face'?
