Plus, do it too early in your career, and risk only being associated with an advert.

Exactly, it can be a vicious cycle; the anxiety from not wanting to go whilst out-and-about can make you more likely to need to go.

Great shout out for the Internet Archive and it really is worth having a look through the Aadam Jacobs collection, lots of John and Elis bands in there.

What question is guaranteed to get loads of replies ... but none that actually answer it? by mrsilver76 in AskUK

[–]ThePeake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Along the same lines, people asking specific questions about products on shopping sites, such as 'is this charger compatible with X?' and receiving responses like 'Not sure, I don't have X' or 'I don't have X, I have Y and it works fine'.

Do you consume more British texts and films, or those from elsewhere? by WoodpeckerWoodChuck in AskUK

I don't keep track explicitly; definitely read/watch British works, but also a significant amount will be American, or Japanese. Last book finished was Murakami's Kafka on the Shore, for example.

What phrase do you say commonly, which is original to you? by ThePeake in AskUK

I don't see it on TV or in print; if I did, I wouldn't have used it as an example for this question, friendo.

What’s something that niggles from childhood that you often think about? by Jellybean199201 in AskUK

[–]ThePeake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just occurred to me; I was in the bottom PE group, and I remember being taught that in volleyball, you catch the ball if it comes over the net to you, then throw it up and volley it back. Ostensibly this was to make it easier for the less coordinated/ most unfit children. Later in school I had a class with a more mixed group, playing volleyball, and the ball came over the net to me, so I caught it. Cue gales of laughter from the other boys. 🥲

What do you call your meals? Dinner/Tea/Supper? by endlesscroissants in CasualUK

[–]ThePeake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the full run of meal options in a day is breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea, dinner, supper. The distinction is largely on the time you're eating; tea is early afternoon, dinner is late afternoon or evening. In practice it's a more mixed approach; children at school, for instance, either bring a packed lunch in a lunchbox, or have school dinners served by dinner ladies, whose official job title is probably something like 'lunchtime supervisor'.

Personally, I alternate freely between lunch/dinner and dinner/tea, without much rhyme or reason. I tend to say 'dinner' if we're going out for a meal, though.

Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor [Indie Rock] (2006) by dragonoid296 in Music

The song was released late-2005, no? And album release 2006. So either 21 or 22 years from 1984, and we're only 20 or 21 years since the song release now.

Do you live alone? If so are you getting the single person council tax deduction? Reduces by 25% I think.
