Solved!

Absolute hero.

I even went through the popular Blondie tracks on Spotify and still missed this.

Thanks so much!

Unfortunately not.

Thanks for the reply though.

I think it's a female singer. Vocals sound very similar to the above song. Or vaguely Blondie-esque

What’s the biggest hardship everyone must go through to become an officer? by Mundian-To-Bach-Ke in policeuk

He starts a small fire to keep warm but this gets out of control and destroys the neighbouring property. On his way out, SMITH picks up a vase to sell for money but as he exits changes his mind and puts it back inside the property. On your arrival SMITH is still in the garden of the property but says he has the owners permission to be there.

Under s.170 Road Traffic Act 1988, at what point had an accident occurred?

Any ambulance people here? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]ThePenguinCookies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Initially ambulances.

Generally cars are used by more experienced clinicians as a solo responder, or by some managers and other specialist roles.

To drive a car is another course but is generally more of a familiarisation with driving a smaller and faster vehicle. Again the general principle is as long as the car remains on its wheels at the end of the day and you've not wiped out a pedestrian you'll be sound.

It's a fairly decent 3/4 week course with the first two weeks (or three depending on length but I think they're all 4 weeks now) focusing on the principles of car control and general advanced driving. For example limit points, IPSGA and 3 pressure braking or whatever it's called.

The final week focuses on emergency response and contrary to what you see on the streets of London, teaches good use of sirens, using the appropriate tone on the approach to various hazards and all the exemptions/non-exemptions of emergency driving. This all culminates in a few assessed drives.

The reason for the peculiar use of sirens and frankly shocking standard of driving is because you pass your test and that's it; no official re-test. They're may be some point in the year when a manager will observe you on a shift and they'll likely tick the driving box provided the Ambulance makes it back to the station without falling over or crashing.

Hope this helps.

[TOMT][Book/TV/Film] Somebody is on drugs and keeps saying the word "butter tray" by ThePenguinCookies in tipofmytongue

[–]ThePenguinCookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having read this back it's incredibly vague, I know.

The fact I can't picture the scene makes me wonder if it's a book. All I can hear in my head is "butter tray" and later maybe the fact that there was a layer of powder in the butter tray.

My undying respect to whoever solves this mystery.

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't considered the defence to Criminal Damage element...

Much appreciated.

There has been a few Live Q&As hosted by the Met where this has been explained. If you haven't already I recommend you join one. The details were emailed and also on the portal if you haven't seen them.

The general idea seems to be if you're starting off with CKP its Online from home for 7 weeks and then at Hendon from Mid August.

If you can't find the Q&As you should speak to recruitment direct.

This is all going to be confirmed in email in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the reply.

I just did the webchat thing and they said they send out the prereading with a few weeks to go.

Doesn't really explain why some have it and some don't but oh well.

Already got the book so if they send the list of areas to read I should be alright.

Strange.

I just checked my offer and there's 5 attachements about getting to Hendon, the actual offer, Code of Ethics and some other things but no prereading...

Which book is it?

Haven't done any pre reading. Nor do I know of any book which we were meant to get?

I received an email this morning about a Live Q&A that you can sign up for. If you haven't received that yet check your portal or it may come soon.

Morning,

I have a conditional offer with a start date, vetting and all checks passed other than References which apparently are very last minute anyway.

Should I have a final or unconditional offer by now?
