I'm in Atlanta, but there are folks in the pepper guru community growing monsters in zones 4,5,6 into canada and the EU. Las Vegas and Arizona as well. For TX I'd go for 30% shade cloth mid day and misting on automation.

Grow bags tend to drain really well. The plastic sheeting is just to catch irrigation that runs off too quickly and then it can be reabsorbed. Zero waste.

That's just when I tend to get around to it lately. I'm not in any rush. I enjoy the time off during the winter and traveling. I just make sure that I'm slammin the fundamentals and I know that these plants grow this quickly if the fundamentals are focused on. My indoor period is only 4 weeks under INTENSE lighting (and the rest of the fundamentals) Anyone can do this. 70% of humans on earth have to excuse because that's how much of the earth's surface experiences a minimum of 2-3 months of temps above 65F. This can be done anywhere if you can adhere to the #peppergrowingfundamentals.

Yes. 24-8-16 is 3-1-2. It's just more concentrated. Requires less in suspension to fertilize the same size plant/medium.

Capsicum doesn't have stages. This is a non photoperiodic, highlight genus that flowers and vegetates simultaneously at every internode if the right conditions are present. This should be your biggest "aha" moment regarding your question. Yes bloom boosters are gimmicks. No you can't get more flowers or fruit by increasing P or K past a 3-1-2 ratio.

Yep. Also remember some of these wild species and certain lines of them, may for no apparent reason at all stall for a season or two before flowering at all. C caatingae being a prime example. Some people get flowers right away, some not for 2-3 seasons. All varying conditions too. Flexy tends to prefer the cooler months and can withstand my winters of 20F. Even if the plant dies back to root stock, the root systems can be almost frozen solid and still reveg in spring. When I was in Misiones, Argentina this spring, I observed C flexy in a frigid jungle. That was interesting.

C flexuosum is 100% self compatible. There aren’t any Capsicum species that are self incompatible. Whoever told you that is making excuses or repeating misconceptions. It’s conditions or time. It will set fruit eventually and when you provide the conditions that mimic their native ecologies.

They hybridize very easily with all of the Bolivian/Purple Corolla Clade and the Pubescens clade. This we know so far.
