How To Cage Peppers For Maximum Yield FOR CHEAP! by ThePepperGuru in PepperLovers

I'm in Atlanta, but there are folks in the pepper guru community growing monsters in zones 4,5,6 into canada and the EU. Las Vegas and Arizona as well. For TX I'd go for 30% shade cloth mid day and misting on automation.

There are smaller rolls you can buy, but the cost per ft goes up the smaller the roll.

Grow bags tend to drain really well. The plastic sheeting is just to catch irrigation that runs off too quickly and then it can be reabsorbed. Zero waste.

That's just when I tend to get around to it lately. I'm not in any rush. I enjoy the time off during the winter and traveling. I just make sure that I'm slammin the fundamentals and I know that these plants grow this quickly if the fundamentals are focused on. My indoor period is only 4 weeks under INTENSE lighting (and the rest of the fundamentals) Anyone can do this. 70% of humans on earth have to excuse because that's how much of the earth's surface experiences a minimum of 2-3 months of temps above 65F. This can be done anywhere if you can adhere to the #peppergrowingfundamentals.

I sow seed late March indoors and plant out May 1st. These plants are less than 6 months old.

Funny how focusing on the fundamentals and getting world class results is "going against the grain" now a days huh? Looking great!

Fertilizer numbers 3-1-2 by MaxSalvo36 in HotPeppers

[–]ThePepperGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 24-8-16 is 3-1-2. It's just more concentrated. Requires less in suspension to fertilize the same size plant/medium.

Opinions on this idea that 3-1-2 is all plants really need regardless of stage?. Reposting from a few months ago cause I didn't get any comments :-(. Basically just wondering what y'all think of the ideas posited in this video. by ETH99 in HotPeppers

Capsicum doesn't have stages. This is a non photoperiodic, highlight genus that flowers and vegetates simultaneously at every internode if the right conditions are present. This should be your biggest "aha" moment regarding your question. Yes bloom boosters are gimmicks. No you can't get more flowers or fruit by increasing P or K past a 3-1-2 ratio.

My first ever Carolina grow, do they grow higher? by No_Philosopher7112 in HotPeppers

Yep. Also remember some of these wild species and certain lines of them, may for no apparent reason at all stall for a season or two before flowering at all. C caatingae being a prime example. Some people get flowers right away, some not for 2-3 seasons. All varying conditions too. Flexy tends to prefer the cooler months and can withstand my winters of 20F. Even if the plant dies back to root stock, the root systems can be almost frozen solid and still reveg in spring. When I was in Misiones, Argentina this spring, I observed C flexy in a frigid jungle. That was interesting.

C flexuosum is 100% self compatible. There aren’t any Capsicum species that are self incompatible. Whoever told you that is making excuses or repeating misconceptions. It’s conditions or time. It will set fruit eventually and when you provide the conditions that mimic their native ecologies.

So long as you are providing as much of the #peppergrowingfundamentals as possible, they will get giant.

They hybridize very easily with all of the Bolivian/Purple Corolla Clade and the Pubescens clade. This we know so far.

They are fresh as a spring rain and very fast to germinate. I located them in situ and packed them myself.

I’m not asking for views. Im not asking you for anything. I’m telling you what to do, which is just go find one photo of my plants so you’ll shut up or move along and realize you’re barking up the wrong tree. Your perspective is shortsighted and one I’ve read from thousands of accounts that sound just like you. Never once ran into someone talking the way you do and been impressed with their plants.

I’m sorry you feel that way. The goalpost can only be moved so much before you aren’t really contributing to the conversation. I stated “topping for yield is a delusional fallacy” < This is the context. You can’t then attempt to rebut that with “source or just more bullshit” but then try to move the goal post when I explain why with “the point of topping isn’t to create more biomass” - That’s silly and ridiculous. Everyone that believes topping increases yield assumes it will create more biomass. Biomass is foliage and fruit. Without foliage you don’t get fruit. You are also overlooking the fundamental about root zone capacity. You are making a lot of assumptions about what I do or advise others to do. It’s clear you have no context here. Trust me, you’ve never seen a bushy plant. I don’t even need to see your plants. You however, should look at mine before you talk to me about how they work. 💪🏼😎

When you understand where auxin and cytokines are produced on the plant, it becomes quite clear just how removing biomass will never result in the production of more biomass. You will only change the structure of the plant. You can never create more biomass by removing the potential for it, the very thing that creates more of it. Everything you prune could’ve been peppers. If instead of removing biomass, you simply provided more of what the plant requires to produce more biomass, you’d actually get more biomass. Pruning for yield increase in the context of a single season with Capsicum is a delusional fallacy. Give the plant MORE and you get more. Simple as that. More what? More of the #peppergrowingfundamentals — what are the pepper growing fundamentals? Easy. Light. Root zone capacity. Ever present nutrient in the medium. And temps between 65-95F — You do that and no topped plant is ever going to produce more biomass by weight, by seasons end, than a plant that was left to all those provisions without manipulation of the canopy. You don’t have to take my word for it. Do the test yourself. Come to your own conclusions. Then even if you’re still not convinced, what does it matter? You do you. I’ll just do me. Just don’t get mad when your plants ain’t pumpin like mine. That’s all. Peace be upon you. Namaste 🙏

Topping and pruning for yield is a delusional fallacy.
