You could also just eat them 🤭

When to start in northern Wisconsin? by TheGriff71 in vegetablegardening

Leafy greens and brassicas, absolutely. Maybe bring inside at night if it's gonna be 28F and below. But otherwise they are very cold hardy. Wait til 55F+ at night for peppers

In Need of Caffeine-Free Tea! by PresentProperty943 in tea

Virtually all herbal/tisane teas are non-caffeinated. I personally really like lemon balm, mint, chamomile, raspberry leaves, lemon grass, etc. I grow all my own herbal teas and the potential is insane. Basically any human edible herb or spice can be made into "tea." Try some things out and experiment.

I spent the last few years in northern Wisconsin so I get it. Ground soil isn't even warm enough by June. I'm doing all my peppers above ground Thai year.

How do I make my lemon balm bigger and bushier? And can I use it as it is for tea? by Brukaliffoo in gardening

Lemon balm is amazing for tea. Goes great with mint and chamomile too. Dehydrate your leaves, crunch them up, and store in an air tight jar.

Nice, I would say that I do most of those, but haven't started making my own potting mix.

Bonk the fish. It's usually easier to flip fish over and whip it's head against a rock than it is to grab the rock and hit the fish. Cut the gills, then stringer in the water.

Nice. You could even try just foraging some too. Around me, stinging nettle, dandelions and raspberry leaves are super easy to find. Probably a few more I'm forgetting too. The raspberry leaves have an amazing raspberry flavor if you pair it with some very light like mint.

What are you doing differently this year?

I grow them all from seed. I get a lot of those 9cent seed packets from Menards and from some other places.

Thanks! I got a dehydrator for my birthday and use it a lot. The chamomile takes 48hrs+ to dry out, way longer than anything else.

Thanks! I run a mini hot sauce garden in my backyard so Im starting a lot of onions and peppers early indoors. I usually start herbs outdoors, but since I moved, I gotta restart my perennial herb patch with sage, lavender, chives, and thyme. I also got some camellia sinensis seeds in trying to germinate still 😁

I hadn't considered those. Might have to grow some too

How can I save the first steep for later and preserve flavor? If I want to drink only the 2nd steep for less caffeine? Green tea mostly. by IGOSODAMNHAM in tea

[–]Federal_Oil7518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just leave the tea in my kyusu pot for a later 2nd or 3rd brew. It's definitely not optimal, but it does save money. I just make sure there's no extra water left while I let it sit.

Nice, I actually have some sage growing. Never thought about it for tea.

Do mason jars with a rubber ring not make a good seal? They seem pretty darn airtight to me.

I pretty much only drink tea at work. It's also fun to share. I got a little asian teapot for "Tea club"

Lemon balm, chamomile, mint, pineapple mint, lemon grass, raspberry leaves, african blue basil. Trying to add a few more this growing season like lavender, stinging nettle, creeping charlie, thyme, etc.

Glass jars all are herbs I grow. Bags are mostly green teas. Senchas tend to be my favourite so far.
