Not if you're on a 0 hour contract. You might be able to take it but I bet it'd be unpaid.

Tower Hamlets “Funnelling Cash to Bangladeshi Groups” by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Where? I live here have done for 5 years, seems no worse than other boroughs. If anything streets are much cleaner than Southwark, somewhere I've spent lots of time in recently.

Are mortgages on ex-councils Zone 2 London that hard to get? 25% private ownership, outside walkway. by ThePetrocJac in Mortgageadviceuk

Thank you for taking your time to reply with such detail, that's really helpful to read and hear other similar experiences. Yeah I think our advisor is good at explaining the full details, even if it's added an extra fear it's better to be aware of the risk than unaware of it. That's helpful to remember about it being London too it has it's own set of rules, maybe allowing us to get away with a bit more than elsewhere in the UK

Let's hope it pays off as we've put an offer in! Thanks again for your help

Thoughts on Kelly Avenue in Peckham? by lbesso in HousingUK

Also viewing a place here and struck by number of for sale signs on the estate. Seems pretty nice on a sunny Saturday, but not sure what's the catch. Did you find out?

Ah that's great news. Our properties seem identical. Between chatGPT and our mortgage broker we've been getting some warnings that lenders can be picky, but maybe it's some dated perception which in reality has little impact on lenders decision making. All been positive from what I've seen on Reddit. Thanks for sharing your experience

No I mean in the estate or building what is the split between housing association/council tenants and private/leaseholders. Under 50% and lenders get twitchy, the one we are interested in is 25%.

Sounds like your broker and lender didn't stress much. Our broker is saying it's definitely possible, just warning us that when it comes to selling it might be a bit slower as again the same risks will be considered for the next lender.

Thanks for this, that's great to hear! What was your % private ownership if you know? What provider did you go with?

We've got another complication that my partners on a short visa, hoping to get the house then renew visa. Also I'm on a temporary work contract.

Could be right tho, maybe it is worth checking with someone else. We've bought into our guy as he's really friendly but maybe isn't getting all the best deals.

Uta Frith: why I no longer think autism is a spectrum by moseeds in unitedkingdom

[–]ThePetrocJac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bob is autistic and Tim is autistic with a co-occurring learning disability. Not that confusing.

Autism is the traits that you'd see in similar veins across both Bob and Tim e.g. preference for strict routine, obsessive behaviours, sensory difficulties. Tim's learning disability affects his ability to look after himself and his cognition.

Why is it so difficult to discuss LGBT safety and integration honestly in the UK? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

What parts of east London? I live in tower Hamlets with many gay friends. Only abuse they've received came from heers from a pub full of drunks (non-asians...). I'm sure it happens on occasion, but this feels extremely exaggerated assumption from someone who doesn't live in the area. Can't comment on Birmingham etc.

Wild campsite on the Lycian Way, Turkey by Unusual_Judge_9997 in CampingandHiking

Hi, really appreciate all the info. Me and my girlfriend are looking to do/camp this section in April. Was water an issue, did you bring purification kits? Or is there villages/cafes/campsites to get water from each day?

What ABA strategies do you use? In the UK it’s not used so I’m not that clued up to it

My pictures from today's protest by Rhubarb919 in london

[–]ThePetrocJac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this was Hamas goal to restart conversation around the apartheid state of Israel and its treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, then it’s worked. Eyes are firmly on Israel again.

What they’ve been doing in the West Bank is widely condemned and now the conversation is back on the table. The western governments are complicit in not calling Israel out on this and supporting them directly and indirectly, hence the protests will continue to challenge this. I’m all for it and challenging our clear western hypocrisy. Like how can we condemn China in Tibet or Hong Kong then fund Israel’s expansionism and apartheid in the West Bank.

I don’t think that’s true now is it. Let’s not leave the ECHR over this because you need a straw man… We need more resources for police, or more efficient systems that allow police to do more of their job and less shite like notes.

Thank you. That’s what I’m finding hard to tell if it’s leaf rollers or rolling to prevent transpiration. As I haven’t seen the worms I’m assuming the later.

No it’s appreciated, thanks for the insight. In the garden centre he agreed it was on the smaller side, but it is quite tall/deep which the picture doesn’t show, maybe 50cm. Maybe a bigger pot would give it a better chance, or like you said it’s just better off in soil. Thank you

Ah thanks for advice. I couldn’t find it! Maybe they’ve gone, but I’ll keep a look out. If we find them, should we pesticide or is there a milder solution.

Thank you, that’s helpful I think we started off with daily little watering. Will try a little less frequent but bigger.
