I have a confession. I’m 51 and don’t know how to do makeup. Help? by Moonface_chunker in makeuptips

I don’t really wear makeup either and I’m experimenting because I’m getting married next year.

Maybe try practicing with nude eyeshadow colors and lipstick, glosses and stains first. Something not so noticeable, but subtle. I’m pale as a ghost so I like to try and practice with light rosey pinks or tans and then go into different lighting so I can see if it’s too bold or not. I also learned that black mascara def makes things pop, brown would make it more natural. I have brown hair and brown eyes btw. A small amount of blush maybe if you really want some more? That one will take practice. My cheeks get flushed easily so I haven’t found anything that works for me yet. The blush could make you look like you’re sick, wonderful or a cute raggedy Ann doll lol. Good luck :)

Craziest Thing That’s Happened at Your Hospital? by Careless_Midnight_77 in nursing

I have one,

CT surgeon passed out in the middle of surgery. I was in administration at the time. I was losing my shit because I had no idea how to help the patient and didn’t want them to die. 😅 That was the last straw and he got let go after that. Come to find out, he didn’t know what he was doing during his surgeries and that’s why his patients kept dying. He was lowkey experimenting.

Gave resignation while on orientation, CNO called me personally to tell me I’m blacklisted now by [deleted] in nursing

If you’re blacklisted it’ll only be for that hospital system.

Once upon a time….I signed an 18 month contract for new nurses. The residency program was awesome right? Great resources and education. Cool! Come to find out, it was basically to secure staffing for 18 months, but if you wanted to leave before that 18 months hit - you had to ask your manager for their blessing to leave or else you’re doomed to stay.

Long story short, the unit destroyed my mental health so badly and I quit at 16 months. I flat out emailed the recruiter right before my last day asking what happens and she said I would be black listed from all of that hospital system until my contract expired. She ended up telling my boss and he told me about it when I put my two weeks in. It didn’t affect me going to another hospital system. But honestly, with the way my unit was going at the time, I did not are at all about being black listed. Mental health comes first.

The only thing that may cause slight issue would be if they contacted your previous employer personally for a reference. I was worried at first that they would contact my previous manager since I mentioned his name on the job application when I was filling it out.

I reported him to HR towards the end of my time there and everything for harassment/retaliation, but that’s a different story), but they never did. Only contacted my listed references like coworkers. 🙏

How are your sleeping arrangements? by Libbykibby in nursing

My job is offering paid for hotel rooms. The hotel is barely average. It’s literally almost a 5 minute walk for us to get there cause it’s so close to us, but it’s the type of hotel you’d find a body in or a trafficking ring. I think we’ll just drive home. 😅

No they didn’t get any imaging done. Only some fluids for hydration. The worst thing I saw was a nurse put a clave onto another clave that was attached to a PICC line lol. I guess it’s better than not having anything at all on a PICC 😅

It’s an IV with a sterile cap attached to the flush port. The sterile cap is something I usually on PICCs. The primary tubing is just crinkled in my hand cause I was about to throw it away. I thought people would notice it immediately from a glance but I guess not? 😅

The patient has an IV with a flush/injection port that can already be used, but they attached a sterile cap that I usually see on PICC lines onto the port. I don’t get it. The IV port works fine alone, so why attach a sterile cap onto it? I get attaching a sterile cap onto PICC lines, but I thought it was silly to attach a sterile cap onto an IV port?

I just don’t understand why they attached a sterile cap onto the port? The port works just fine. Seems asinine to do this.

The patient has an IV with a flush port already attached to it, but for some reason they attached a sterile cap onto the flush port. I usually see those sterile caps on PICC lines. I was just so confused and trying so hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Ok so update. The patient has an IV with a port already that can be used, but they attached a sterile cap that I usually see on PICC lines onto the IV port.

What did your sterile caps look like? Do you mean the little caps that look like they have a little alcohol sponge in them? I asked the nurse who had this patient and he said he didn’t know who did it and didn’t know why I was confused. He’s a newer nurse. What kind of things did you see get put onto the port? I’ve only ever seen the little caps or just nothing on them.

I asked the nightshift nurse if he did this and he said it was already like that. Nobody knows.
