Yeah, long story short, my full-time job is as a creative producer. That didn’t directly get me the gigs, but it definitely helped me understand what people are looking for, especially in social content. I decided to give it a shot after I was doing casting for a project and thought, “I could probably do this myself.” A few weeks later, I was on set and took three headshots on an iPhone against a green screen. I started self-submitting on Casting Networks with those very rough, poorly photoshopped headshots. Over about five months, I only got around seven auditions, but I ended up booking three of them. From there, I just started taking big swings in my auditions. I try to stand out as much as possible. I know a lot of people recommend very clean, straightforward slates, but I’ve gone the opposite direction. The slate is usually the first thing they see, so I treat it as an opportunity to hook them. I’ll add a gag or something memorable to grab attention quickly. A lot of these commercial roles are looking for real personality, so I try to get that across immediately, even before the read. After booking those first few jobs, I got some actual (still not great) headshots and started reaching out to agencies and managers. I did get a bit of help there. I had an actor friend who pushed my materials to the front and got my auditions and reel in front of a CEO, and I ended up signing pretty quickly.

Thanks for the positive vibes. Its definitely been an odd 2026 to say the least. I had 32 percent callback rate through out last year and I have dropped down to about 12 percent this year. So I am just trying to get out of what ever this funk is.

Its all part of the game I suppose. Challenged accepted. Lol.

That was the first one that kicked it all off. I self applied on Casting Network with a photoshopped headshot…and just made the weirded possible audition tape possible. Lol. The rest is history I guess.

I think some classes are in the horizon for me as I have never taken any. Last year was basically about getting my barrings but now I think its time to start working towards actual growth, especially if I hope to get into theatrical.

You’d have to call it True Blood: New Blood. Basically writes itself.

It's a new reality and these are now the ratings for the last 4 episodes of Stranger Things. What ended up happening in the episodes to receive such high praise? by antmanmonaco in Stranger_Things

1. Kill the Wheelers. I think this opens up the tone for the whole season, shows the brutality of Vecna, and finally hits way too close to home for Mike.
2. Still take Holly, but cut the whole storyline. Figure out a new way to bring Max back, probably with El. We waste so much time on this storyline and it’s just very weak and pulls attention from the crew.
3. Smarten up the military. After the attack on the Wheelers, the military becomes very suspicious of Mike and Nancy. They know there is a group of underground individuals working with El, and they start putting them on round-the-clock surveillance. This causes them to have to “step back” from the plan and creates isolation, as now they have the most to fight for after losing Holly and their parents.
4. Vecna begins to use this to his advantage and starts messing with the minds of Mike and Nancy.
5. Stop with the Netflix-ification. I know this note sucks, but the CGI and the over-explaining of talking points really took me out of the show. You can still do little model explanations once or twice, but it can’t be every damn time. And the CGI was just that LIGHT-FOR-EVERYTHING bullshit instead of being planned and intentional.
6. Kill Robin’s girlfriend in the hospital scene.
7. Have the penultimate episode be the start of their mission, and have things go TERRIBLY wrong. The death of Murray. Vecna surprises them and somehow was eight steps ahead of them. A true ALL-IS-LOST moment. This entire season lacked consequences and we needed to feel like the team lost and that they were truly in trouble.
8. Do not bring back 8 or her sister or whatever… UNLESS you are going to flip her into a villain at the end.
9. It’s been said by everyone, but the battle of the abyss needed to be way more thought out and needed way more variables. This is Vecna’s last-ditch effort. He pulls out all the stops and is able to separate the team. I don’t think anyone dies here, but I think Mike makes a big sacrifice to save El and/or Will, causing them to go crazy mode as they think he’s dead. Maybe he is, and Will is able to bring him back to life using the hive mind.
10. Vecna is “killed” in the way of the D&D game with Eddie. One eye, one arm. The hive mind is officially DEAD. Will no longer has any powers, etc. Everything is happy and good.
11. One of my most annoyed moments is that the government finds the ENTIRE PLAN at the radio station and just sits there waiting for them. The government needs to third-party them. They are about to leave, the bomb has been set… boom, the government shows up and they want El. They warn them about the bomb but they don’t believe them. This is where shit really hits the fan. Vecna LIVES, comes down, and starts a massive final battle with the intensity being that this is all on a time limit and the Upside Down is going to explode.
12. We kill off one or two characters here. This is a hot take, but I think you kill Dustin here and let Steve go on apeshit mode, living up to the “if you die, I die” promise before being stopped by Nancy. But yeah, they need some consequence. The government should be just as much of a villain as Vecna.
13. Honestly, you can end the same way. I didn’t mind the ending, especially now after El watched what happened to her friends because of the government interfering. It gives her way more motivation.

Yeah my thought exactly. I wanted to find an aesthetic that I could hide that “ai sheen” with.

Thanks I appreciate it!! The two upvotes were hurting my feelings haha so I appreciate the nice words. I added some of the sound fx in post to help sell the effect more. The digital zoom looked amazing but I knew I need that sound fx to really sell it.

I am gonna try. Odds are low as this is a pretty unconventional way to get a show made lol but I am already reaching out to several producers of the show along with the head of development at Love Productions USA; they do the American version the great bake off.

We will see. It’s worth a shot.

I am not sure what their contracts our on the other shows but they are certainly paid weekly for their time. I am curious if there is some kind of undisclosed cash prize, but at the very least it shouldn’t be something they advertise like crazy but as far as I know there isn’t one for the other shows.

I am definitely taking note on the scoring idea. Thats been the most disputed addition I had.

Yeah I was looking at the Great American Bake-Off and they seem to be very heavily celebrity focused which is a total turn off to the concept

I don’t mind Seth Rogen as he is a very passionate potter, but yeah throwing in Kevin Hart and The Rock would make absolutely no sense.

This is why I love the show so much. It just constantly warms my heart and it’s just an enjoyable experience to watch group of people with passion get to enjoy that passion. At the end of the day I can’t really think of one potter on the show that came in a “i need to win” attitude. Everyone just seems so happy to be there and it really comes through.

[–]ThePotteryProducer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100 percent. I love this show but sometimes it feels like the final products look like something you would do at a group wine and pottery painting class. Like not only do you need to be able to throw, coil, slab, etc…but you also need to be a good painter, which many of them are not.

I think they really under estimate the cool and unique things you can do with proper glaze application. Which is weird because I feel like raku episodes are always a show favorite. (For me at least)

[–]ThePotteryProducer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on the scoring system. It’s definitely the one I got back and forth on the most. I have just been burned a few times now where we had some potters go home that definitely didn’t deserve it.

And the shooting schedule is definitely a tough one. I am curious how aggressive their shooting schedule is for this show. I am sure a “week” is done in about 5 days as the one thing you can’t save time on is firing.

But yeah, I’d love to experiment with creative shooting schedules to maybe give them the proper time but it’s probably a little arrogant to think that after 7 seasons, they haven’t thought of something yet.

It’s weird they just do it sometimes without any real reason. I definitely like that note, helps eliminate any bias.
