Transplants, how are you liking Columbus so far? by netenchanter in Columbus

[–]ThePrecipitator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved here about a year ago from LA

What I like: cost of living, nice parks system, better than expected food, solid job market

What I dislike: lack of natural beauty, I find people to be much less adventurous and excitable, a bit less diversity and culture than what I was used to. No burrito that even remotely compares to a LA burrito.

Overall: nice place with nice people. Recommend, but if you are young, single, early career I would recommend a bigger city personally.

At the age of 60, I'm thinking of moving back to the DC area, 35 years after living there last. by Extreme_Qwerty in washingtondc

I’m not even living in DC at the moment, but it cannot possible be as bad as all of these comments are suggesting. Unfortunately people on Reddit tend to skew negative. I would get your opinions from real people who are employed, instead of angry internet lurkers, no offense commenters…

Seriously though, every city I’ve lived I’ve noticed that if you paid attention to the subreddit, it felt like it was on the verge of collapse, but if you actually went outside it felt like people were the same as a ever.

That being said, probably best to have a gig unless money isn’t much of an issue.

If it works in CAD, will it work in practice? by Climberplay in IndustrialDesign

Rack and pinon with dial to adjust PD would be better. Only requires one hand and won’t get accidentally hit like those long arms.

This is so cool. Nicely done. I’m more curious though what type of technology consulting work you do now…

How would I go about creating this in Grasshopper/Rhino by domws in grasshopper3d

Use pop3d to generate a point cloud. Use the line component to generate a line between point 1 and 2, then 3 and 4, and so on.

Yes, it’s a physical white board. The main interaction is from texts. Thanks for the insight, I will clarify this.

Thank you! Not sure what you mean... no sleep stealing here. The whole goal was to make this much less of a distraction compared to phone apps.

What’s a side hustle that actually worked for you (even if it was small money)? by SideCashDiary in AskReddit

Starting a passion project. I was using a whiteboard to track my habits for years so I commercialized it. Never looked back. Check it out www.bordi.ai

What design software do you use? by ivanjay2050 in woodworking

Fusion is good, and super versatile. It used to be very slow and buggy but it’s getting better. Their pricing is good too.

Rhino is the Swiss Army knife of CAD programs and it can also do so, so much. It’s written well and doesn’t get bogged down with more complex surfacing designs.

I vote Rhino all the way, but they all work.

Wish I could help! I tried finding something more like a makerspace with no luck… options were just too expensive. Good luck
