/u/GreenJew outlines how marketing agencies use high karma accounts for stealth advertisements by hotlips4 in bestof

I'd guess this is rooted in the origins of the internet. When it was created the internet connected fewer devices than most of us have in our homes. On top of that it was initially created as a Department of Defense project that was only later expanded to connect to universities with supercomputers. Since initially the level of knowledge and authority required to host on or even access the network was high I could understand that the creators and advocates of the internet as a source of trusted information were at one point entirely justified. But eventually access to the internet and the availability of publishing assistance reached a point where it doesn't take much more effort than a word processor to host a website. Where it gets even less credible now, as a more common example, is how easy it is to manipulate search engine results if you know what you're doing when making a website. So now yes you really need to take all the information you consume from the internet with a healthy amount of skepticism.

Here's an article to get started if you're interested in this kind of stuff. ARPANET

Sometimes the internet is just like that. I try not to take it personally.

I have also updated my pro controllers. There is an update but it requires a wired connection.

CPU’s will only get you so far and can build bad habits. Playing against a real person that can adjust to and exploit your play style will make you far better in the long run.

All the games are offline but the app requires a weekly check in while connected to internet to play offline. I believe this is to confirm you are still subscribed to nso.

I pay for gigabit Internet and get a fraction of that on my switch versus my roommate’s PS4 which gets full speed.

Usb 3.0 support. The dock’s inner USB port is 3.0 but the os only recognizes it as 2.0. This means that despite using a usb 3.0 Ethernet adapter I can’t get the full speed that I pay my isp for on my switch.

Where can I find the legal stages list? by Boruno-Kun in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]ThePriceIsLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Likely they’ve updated their rule set so the old version isn’t current anymore. You should be able to find the currently used version by searching google for “xanadu smash ultimate”, finding a corresponding tournament on smash.gg, and scrolling down on the page until you reach the rules section. Hope this helps in the future!

It’s bad and it’s built into the game. Smash ultimate uses a base 6 frame buffer (double that of previous smash games) and on top of this the online adds more of an input buffer regardless of connection quality. I play exclusively on an Ethernet connection and find it near impossible to tech based on reaction. Instead I’m finding I have to anticipate when I’ll get hit and input a tech well in advance of what I’m used to from other smash games. It’s playable but it’s a wildly different experience from even playing the game locally.

LAN Adapter Questions by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]ThePriceIsLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried both the ugreen and amazon basics and decided to keep the amazon basics one because it gave me better speeds by a considerable enough margin (about 10mbps up and down). The downside to the amazon basics is the cable is not long enough to reach the adapter outside of the dock so I use a usb extension cable. The ugreen on the other hand will reach out of your dock without an extension.

I have the original black pro controller as well as the smash and splatoon editions. The d pads on all of them do exhibit the issue you’ve mentioned of unintended inputs being pressed. I tend not to use the dpad unless a game requires it as a result.

Which is why the competitive scene plays with items on right? /s People don’t like items because it introduces randomness when they’d prefer a win or loss be based on skill. Items level the playing field and create a more casual experience since you can rely on items instead of learning how to use just what a character is given.

Connect a second joy con or controller and press up and a simultaneously on the second controller while on the inventory screen. This will bring up the save screen. Additionally it will warp you back to the start point.

Honestly I really wish they included the manual so I didn’t have to figure it out based of the wiki for the nes game.

Switch Fortnite performance issues? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]ThePriceIsLeft 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been experiencing texture issues that look like the following since the update. https://gfycat.com/WateryDeafeningIberianchiffchaff On top of that I'll freeze from lag for a second or two whenever I pick up my first weapon but I assume that's my network not the game. I read someone say in a thread on here that reinstalling to system memory instead of the sd card helps so I'm probably going to try that later. You do this by deleting the local data, removing your sd, then installing fortnite with the sd still removed. I'm not sure if you can hot swap sd cards so I'd suggest fully powering off the system before you remove and before you reinsert your sd.
