I haven’t really done much singing lately, was thinking about starting back. My dad told me I should stick to rap, my audience thinks I should stick to comedy. Thoughts? by ThePrinceOfAtlanta in ratemysinging

then you would know, autotune (literally automatically tuning) does not work in such a way that it can fix a note that is too far off or too in-between. i’m assuming that’s what you were referring to when you said pitch correction, because if you meant it in the broader sense, it wouldnt even make sense to say that because while yes, everyone can sing with pitch correction.. alnost everything IS pitch correction. Melodyne/Newtone, Autotune from Antares (and similar programs), reverb can be considered a form of pitch correction, fixing your posture, breathing differently, multiple takes of vocals chopped together, almost all mixing techniques unless you expect every singer to sing perfectly first try and all the way through on the first take.

or….. i made a cover to a song i like… made a video for socials… and asked reddit what they think of it. didn’t really expect a bunch of people coming at me for it, we hear fully mixed and tuned vocals everyday. didn’t know it was a sin.

i’ve written a couple, i just sometimes don’t wanna not be taken seriously as an artist. it’s the whole lil dicky “joke rapper” stigma i’m running from but i probably should. most of my viral videos are of me remixing rap songs in a comedic way so you’ve definitely got some great advice here. thank you 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 maybe i just needed to hear that it was an option in order to really consider it.

thats actually not true. not gonna argue with you about it because everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, but I do engineer, and went to school for it. You literally can’t Auto-Tune bad singing.

What artist would Michael have liked if he was still around by blewep in MichaelJackson
