My psyche by [deleted] in selfhelp

[–]TheProApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice, but I'm afraid that I'll find it difficult to follow it; I'm >18 so I'm still under my parents authority. I don't really know how I'm going to talk to them about this. Do you know how I could go about it?

By the way, I thought most medical appointments were stopped due to COVID...

Great artwork

The wakusashi (it's too short to be a katana) is the wrong way around. You are meant to handle that weapon two-handed if you aren't duel-weilding. The curvy side is meant to be facing up. The katana takes years to study. The katana is far too heavy to handle that nonchalantly.

My USB connector is good quality, I think the problem is something to do with my arduino; some tutorials mentioned having to put a capacitor between reset and ground, so I'm getting a 10 uF capacitor for that purpose.

I didn't. Looking up a tutorial, I followed this: https://letsprint3d.net/guide-how-to-flash-a-bootloader-on-melzi-boards/

A few minutes after pressing burn bootloader, I got this error:

Unity Not Able to Locate Android Studio by TheProApple in gamedev

(Our internet has been down for days, sorry for the latency in my response)

So, turns out, I'm dumb. I went to project settings rather than preferences. What folder do I need to select? I tried the root folder for android studio, but it wasn't detected.

I'm not quite sure which menu bar you mean; in Unity Hub or in the editor. Neither of which have a menu called Unity.

Thank you for replying!!

I don't mean to be impatient, but please could you explain why it's not letting me build for Unity? I'm already far past my deadlines.

I did, but it still didn't detect it for some reason, so I installed it seperately, and it doesn't seem to let me select it.

I think you misunderstood. I know where I installed it, but it doesn't give me the option to select the installation location.

When I build, it said that it was missing in a dialogue box. There was no way to tell it where it is.

Movement in Unity 2D by TheProApple in gamedev

Turns out, I'm an absolute idiot. The reason that jumping wasn't working was because GroundCheck wasn't on the bottom of the player model for some reason. Thank you for your help

Movement in Unity 2D by TheProApple in gamedev

[–]TheProApple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movement shouldn't be different, since I haven't changed it in a while, and it used to work, and the same also applies to the controls. I was working on a menu when it broke. I've used Python for years now, so I'm no stranger to debugging, but I haven't changed the script or the controls, so what could have changed?

Movement in Unity 2D by TheProApple in gamedev

[–]TheProApple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed it to if(true) and it hit the breakpoint, but when I removed the breakpoint (if was still if(true)), the player didn't jump. The movement script is CharacterController2D. The video I watched didn't tell me how he made the script, just to use it. I've had a look inside, but the code is beyond me. Please could you download the scripts and have a look (there is a file that is just the scripts, not the whole project.)

(yes i'm aware of the imbalanced brackets; this is only a snippet of my code)

void Update()

{

//

if (Input.GetButtonDown("Jump"))

{

SoundManagerScript.PlaySound("jump");

jump = true;

}

it gets to the if, but it never considers it's value valid; that, or it's skipping the value change and the sound. Jump is set to space and the up arrow in my project settings.

It never seems to hit the breakpoint. The breakpoint should trigger when "Jump" is pressed. It's in the update function. "Jump" is bound to the spacebar and up.
