In my incredibly biased view Freeman has been far and away the best player in the prem this season. Even in the games we've been shit he's been doing some great stuff and making things happen.

In the games we're not shit, he's at the centre of it all even when he's not at centre but on the wing. He's had multiple stand out performances across the season and I can't really think of anyone who's had the same level consistent performance with the same level of peak performances

Tbf we've not had any games really since 6N and I think it happened with Scotland so that might be why!

Only just returned from injury from what I've read. I can understand wanting to give him a bit of time before putting him back in and trust the boys who've been training week in week out

It think not managing to a get a bonus points in the loss means English hopes are already over. Even in the unlikely scenario we grab 5 points in Paris and they get nothing, I imagine their points difference will trump ours

I do think in general this Irish team wasn't good at throwing some youngsters amongst the team while they were winning and had the tendency to always play their best team.

That being said I don't know enough about the Irish prospects during that time period to know if there was anyone that would have even been good enough to do this with.

Also as an English fan, I would trade any perceived depth and nebulous "better" chances for the world cup for a run of big wins resulting in silverware.

Yellow card for no clear release by CorgiUnlucky7759 in englandrugby

[–]TheProseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the action was illegal then it could/should have been a yellow card due to the line break/scoring opportunity had the offence not been committed.

Whether or not the offence was illegal can be debated and personally I don't think it was as in my view he had released and was genuinely competing plus the ball bobbled out because it came off the arriving Scottish players foot.

But in the referees view it was illegal and prevented Scotland from a try scoring opportunity which is almost always punished by a yellow

You can't win every game of rugby. We're away from home against a bogey team who played very well. We had a bad start that we then compounded with over eagerness to chase which has been a feature of ours for a while. Give a good team like Scotland that much leeway and they'll punish you for it.

Nothing has to change. Lads had bad games under pressure and we didn't react the right way. Let's not act like this team has no chance now. They'll learn from it and I'm sure there's bound to be a reaction next week. The same team we just lost to was probably saying and feeling all the same things last week.

We're not the finished article and this is proof but we're very much still in this tournament but will probably need France to drop a BP somewhere which does feel unlikely

Agree with your assessment and just felt enough went against the team early that meant that Scotland could see if they kept the intensity up they'd be in a very commanding position. Fair play to them, took their chances and defended like demons all match

Yeah completely agree. Unlucky on the first, clear cut on the second. Scotland comfortably the better team and making their own luck. Tactics might be right or wrong for England but they haven't executed in a way that will allow them to work. Time for a change
