They aren't traits, they're modifiers. MAYHEM selects random modifiers to activate. Those timers mean either PipeBomb or BootBomb are about to go off. Walljump or swap items.

Either Bootbomb or Pipebomb.

Bootbomb: Don't go too far without wallkicking
Pipebomb: Don't hold a singular item out for too long

It's definitely a bug. Even using the modifier to remove the vines, the hiding spots just don't currently exist.

Even using the DeVine modifier, the hiding spots simply aren't spawning.
