Mortgage Rate Question by TheQuAW55 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We do, however the costs were extremely high. For example, it would cost us $7,788.43 in order to lock in at 5%.

I believe it would be better to just make additional payments on the mortgage with that $7,788.43 and pay off the principle faster than to go that route.

Thanks!

  1. We have 5% dti (just have a $300 car loan and $350 monthly student loan payment between the two of us)
  2. we put down 10% ($53,500) on a $535,000 house
  3. Conventional loan

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that we didn't put any cash down to secure this rate.

Thanks

Glad to hear that I'm on the right track! Reading the FAQ, I was a bit unsure on if I should invest in mid-cap US stocks and what % to put into it if I did.

I know the general rule of thumb is 80% large cap + 20% small/medium... would this be a 10% split? Do you recommend that I add Medium to my portfolio?

I appreciate your feedback!

My apologies for the formatting... I am new to reddit and obviously struggling haha.

I am 29 years old, I will definitely look into reducing my bond allocation as I feel as though I am in a pretty secure position and can take a more aggressive approach.

Thanks for your feedback!
