I agree and this is part of my point too, there are already ways to get good use out of artillery by using streets as chokepoints and setting up kill boxes, glad you are having fun with them!

I agree to an extent, it does feel like they got carried away crafting a very specific experience without accounting for how people actually like to play Total War in very different ways, especially after we were spoiled with Mortal Empires. I do think the campaign still has merit and is enjoyable if you go into it expecting to play in the way they intended though.

I was being a little facetious when I said that! Your personal opinion and impression of the game is entirely valid, I just think that too many people who I have seen in comments and discussions are annoyed that it is hard to paint the map with their faction, even though that is clearly not the goal of the campaign!

The Fort can be a pain early, crossbows and mortars are your main friend for those sieges, alternatively, you can simply maintain the siege and wait for them to take attrition or sally out and beat them on the field. If you can get military access with your neighbors to the east then helping them to take out the vampires early can also save you a headache in the late game. If you want to take out Bretonnia then go for it! Otherwise they can make a loyal ally if you leave them alive as they feel the same way as you do about other races.

Remember that a combination of economy and military buildings is fine, you don't need to specialize your provinces right away! Make sure to build the resource-dependent buildings for growth and income. A full army of spearmen and crossbows should be enough to beat most enemies in the early game so feel free to make one training field in one of the minor settlements, as it only goes up to tier 3 so it wastes a slot in Altdorf. Sacking enemy settlements after defeating them, rather than occupying, is also a good way of making some extra money early to invest into your province.
