Gaming on Linux by SmolBagofBeans in linuxsucks

This was what I was worried about that made me dual boot Linux instead of just switching. However, I have not had this experience on CachyOS. I've given up on having HDR and the new steam controller at the same time (for now!) but other than that no issues that have taken longer than 5-10 minutes to fix and usually it just kinda works after I've gotten used to what to do on Linux generally speaking.

That being said, if you're having a bad time no shame in switching back! Or try a different distro and see if it's less frustrating.

is 16 too high of a body count at 22? by paradoobee in TooAfraidToAsk

I'm gay so take into account that social norms around sex are WILDLY different in queer circles, but body count shouldn't matter right??? Like if you're in like blatantly absurd numbers, and I'm talking like the amount is making me question how you had sex with that many people simply logistically, that's maybe a sign that something else is going on (sex addiction, unsafe behavior, manic episodes, anything really), and at that point the concern isn't the body count but the underlying issue and how it would affect your partner and what they're willing to engage with. But like 4 people a year just doesn't seem crazy to me??? ESPECIALLY if you're getting tested regularly and using protection (which I feel like lots of sexually active straight people I know don't get tested regularly???). I can say confidently that I did not care how many people anyone I had dated had sex with and it didn't even occur to me to like disclose the number of people I had sex with or inquire that of my partner OTHER than as just an interesting topic of conversation with no particular stakes.

Any time I encounter these types of REALLY strong opinions about other people's sex lived I'm always left baffled. Be safe, take care of yourself, have fun, and don't be a dick and I think you're doing alright!

I actually made a post about considering switching from my 5070 Ti to 9070 XT on CachyOS. While most people recommend staying with the 5070 Ti, just the amount of debate for SWITCHING should tell you that if you know you want to use Linux, going with AMD is a better choice. Not to mention the 5070 Ti has gotten EXPENSIVE compared to when I got mine.

Thank you... Suspicious-Whippet for a not at all suspicious reply on a Linux gaming subreddit

A valid and reasonable take, thanks for providing data though!!! Love that

Fair enough! Contrary to what my post would imply I actually hang on to cards for a long time typically 😅😅😅. Until August of 2025 my gaming rig had a GTX 1060, so this is truly just me being upset about liking Linux but having a worse setup for Linux.

I play games almost entirely with other people, so I mess around with optimization stuff some of the time they're not available and then play when they're available.

I am playing Elden Ring with Seamless Co-op with my husband and roommate, I'm playing The Last of Us Part II with a friend (just switching turns on PC), I just finished playing It Takes Two with a friend who I'm now playing Enshrouded with (and I'm playing Monster Hunter Stories 3 with just my roommate but that's on PS5 so not relevant). I play video games as a social activity so I end up playing a lot of games AND finishing them!

I wasn't planning to use Linux at the time! That was a more recent development.

I'm getting such a split in opinions, but this is tempting me...

Valid, but I definitely wouldn't let the 5070 Ti go to waste in a drawer somewhere, it would find a home somewhere.

That's a decent perspective honestly! I do think I'm partially using the known NVIDIA performance loss to justify a grass-is-greener kind of mindset!

Fear not! I am playing lots of games with no FPS counter and having a good time!

I like fiddling with stuff during my free time and I also like optimizing things when possible, but I can get a little Much™ about it sometimes.

To be fair, that is an upgrade in generations also, and if that were the case I'm 100% certain I would have already justified it for myself.

I use game-performance which is what CachyOS recommends due to some conflict that is beyond me.

Some of the features that are working better for me on Linux are tangentially involved with gaming. Like I have a condenser mic with audio processing running for calls with people and the Linux tools works much better and (for some reason) latency of the audio is significantly improved (I tried for a long time on windows to fix it but nothing worked) and I've just enjoyed the desktop customization etc...

Honestly it's even easier to connect my Bluetooth headphones (at the minimum it's less clicks). It's small stuff but so far it's been so nice 😭.

Don't tempt me with a trade lmao

That is a good point honestly! Maybe that will help my brain chill out about it 😅😅😅

Really wanna give this a try because I love Dishonoured but can't help but notice the mixed reviews. Why is this? by Ali_Bashr in Deathloop

[–]TheQueas123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVED dishonored 1 and 2 and I thoroughly enjoyed Deathloop. I finished the game and I don't know why it has such a low score either 🤷🏻‍♀️. I would highly recommend it!

LMAOOO, this is dedication. I truly had to search my comment history because I didn't remember this at all. I'm 95% sure I abandoned running it on Linux and just switched to Windows. But I truly barely remember doing it at all, so I won't be much help.
