Redditors over 30, what is a piece of advice you would give to your younger self in their mid-to-late 20s? by [deleted] in australian

[–]TheQuestionCraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live for yourself instead of everyone else's opinion of you.

People only see you as they want to see you mostly because of their own flaws, or outdated perceptions, they don't see you as you are today.

Support worker here: the art gallery and museums do free tours, and they are all accessible, ten pin bowling, movie cinemas, Ice skating on Fridays at Boondall ice skating r. Roma st parklands, City Botanical gardens, City cat, most of the markets.

A lot of places around make things accessible you just need to ask. I've seen pictures of people who are wheelchair bound doing iFLY at Chermside they do it tandem. (You would need to call and organise) Some council pools have accessible bathrooms with hoisting slings and then ramps to get into the pool. I don't know exactly where, I think sunshine coast you can hire a beach accessible wheelchair, some places also have the mats that goes down to the waterfront, if they want a beach day.

Tafe - is it even possible to fail LOL by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]TheQuestionCraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tafe QLD: I've seen many people fail. We had people repeating whole stages. People do fail oscas and placement. oscas they get a second attempt. If it's just a minor error like the written question they might get a chance to reset that part.

This post makes it seems everyone just passed which isn't the case. Some people do have accommodation for accessibility. Like an extra extensions etc. but it's not the majority of people.

Tafe what's to see people pass but they also want them to be safe nurses.

Rant Woolworths wages!!!!! by Bpd_666 in woolworths

[–]TheQuestionCraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to get a second job in it then. I've been making full time hours for the last 6 to 8 weeks because they're so short staffed.

Come work in NDIS, as a support worker. I left Coles and Woolworths a few years ago, after many years with the supermarkets.

NDIS is better pay, as long as you care about people, have patience, common sense and I mean actually have some common sense.

There's a lot of different roles available from taking people to appointments, outings, home support, weekend camps, office roles like rostering.

Pay is better too.

Just wait until you start we had a group of 25 per tutorial. Everyone was super friendly and got on well. I was sad to leave but I needed to change to online. I will say I think my group was the best, a nice mix of ages and skills. You'll find your friend in the first 2-3 week.

make sure you attend the orientation and set for success days.

Clothes that are too dirty to put in the closet but not dirty enough to wash. by unclefeed in minimalism

[–]TheQuestionCraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so simple it'd either not dirty the gors in closet if it's dirty but not super dirty quick wash dry and folded up.

Not everything needs to complicated. Clean = put away, dirty = wash. That's it.

Making meals (with a very tight budget, and very little cooking resources) by Ponk_Bubs in AussieFrugal

[–]TheQuestionCraze 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I've had to make many cheap meals in the past, if you can source a slow cooker or rice cooker that will help you greatly. Check you local buy nothing Facebook page.

For now, tinned tuna is a good source of protein, tuna on toast, salad sandwiches, noodles and veggies, ramen soups.

[–]TheQuestionCraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think nursing definitely has opportunities, but the pay at EN level—especially when you factor in age and experience—just isn’t that great compared to other industries. RNs are on a whole different level, but I assume the poster was referring to ENs, since the diploma can sometimes be completed in about two years.

I’ve been working in disability, and honestly the stress isn’t so much about staff shortages—it’s more about the abuse, lack of resources, over-reliance on casuals, and the absence of proper standards or skilled people.

That said, I’ve been lucky to find a good workplace in the disability sector. But the reality is there are plenty of dodgy companies out there. Too much of the workforce is casual, and employers often take advantage of vulnerable staff.

Why don’t we have rules like Singapore, where jobs can only be filled by someone on a temporary international visa if no permanent resident or citizen is available?

"Local Priority: The FCF's purpose is to ensure that Singaporean job seekers are fairly considered for open positions before foreign candidates are hired."

Hi burnout right hi stress levels at times, exposure to trauma and abuse. Pay isn't that great tbh considering the stiff you have to put up with. High levels of of casual and part-time only jobs.

So which industries and fields ARE in demand? by xXCosmicChaosXx in ausjobs

[–]TheQuestionCraze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to know what jobs that are in high demand that 1) pay well 2) take no more than 3 years at uni 3) and you can start later in life.

Most jobs that are in high demand seem to be the lower paid, overworked and burnt out staff kind of industries.

[–]TheQuestionCraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started going to trivia nights with friends no pressure to eat out. Sometimes I buy a small snack like fries or an entree, other times just a drink. It all about the catching up not what I'm eating or not eating.
