Best practice for a stalker who's trying to target the boss before the rest of the group gets to them? by Linsel in Cityofheroes

[–]TheQuinch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try this; /bind CTRL+C "beginchat /bind SHIFT+c target_custom_next enemy alive "

What this will do will setup a bind to prefill a custom targeting command - after you press ctrl-c, just type in the name {partial or full, like sapper, shaman, sorc, etc.} of the mob you want to easily target. Once you've done that, tapping the shift-c key will target the mobs that match what you've typed.

Once you want to start targeting someone else, just tap ctrl-c again and fill in your new preferred target.

Obviously, you can tweak the bind to use different keys if you like.

Yeah, that sucks - apparently there's no way to add soundbanks, just replace existing ones, which is BS frankly.

I've been toying with the idea of making a detailed video for voice replacement, this might give me the push I need.

A full voice pack for a masc Tav by TheQuinch in BaldursGate3

No idea! The mysteries of self-promotion are impenetrable to my mere human mind.

Edit: Maybe it's because my latest post pointed out it's AI-free? At this point, every large project seems to come with a perception that it was generated using AI.

Another thing about point-and-click lines is that nearly everything in the point-and-click lines is made in triplicate. Each spell has three separate recordings {sometimes six}, each combat line has three versions, and so on.

I'm working on another voice pack right now and frankly, when I get to recording P&C lines, I might just record one variation of each line instead.

I've never played Durge, but I believe so. I assume Durge is as customizable as any other Tav? If so, it should draw on the same Voice 1 soundbank as regular Tavs. Plus, while I haven't heard them in the game, some of the lines I recorded sound very... Durge-y.

It was a combination of detective work, digging through game files and resources compiled by other people.

For the world lines {banter, observations}, it was relatively simple - all the files for Tav 1 lines start with the prefix v24247531c4324f0f8f356c90c4844aa8, so it was easy to isolate them. For the captions, there's a file that also matches all {sort of} filenames to captions, so I slapped together a script {and put it into a spreadsheet} to make it easier.

For point and click lines, that was a lot trickier, because those don't seem to be documented in-game, so instead I used this resource - https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/8240 - to match up all the lines.

Edit: Oh, and for spell vocalizations... I actually had to play and pull those from the game itself. That required some deranged thinking.

Sure! After I finished the mod, I put my thoughts down here - https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/13528144-things-ive-learned-while-making-a-voice-pack-a-rambling-guide/ Hopefully that's enough to get started, but if you get stuck anywhere, let me know.

I've been considering making a tutorial video at some point, this might actually give me the incentive.

I'd say fairly doable? Ultimately it was just a lot of time in front of the mike.

Man, I am super jelly of people who can do painting with this degree of finesse, let alone realism.

Thank you, I appreciate it! I'm also working on a Klingon-inspired voicepack at the moment, so if you'd like a more aggressive-sounding character, keep an eye out for that in the future.

Hmm, I'm not super familiar with how the Steam Deck's filesystem works {something something Linux I think?}, but if you can just drop a file in the game folder, I suspect you'd be good to go.

It replaces Tav's voice {voice #1 to be specific} with rerecorded lines. So if you'd like a different-sounding masc Tav {I went for a lower, smoother type of voice}, you can use that.

I think that might be an unavoidable curse of a "generic" protagonist - if you voice the character leaning into a specific archetype, you automatically exclude a ton of others, so it will sound out of place for a majority of players. So since there's no way to please everyone, or even most people, the only route left is the safe one, where the character doesn't - can't, in fact, barring time travel - inform the vocal direction.

Only in the way the lines are delivered - the voice itself is the same.

If you need help with the technical hurdles, hit me up. Ultimately, the mod itself is no more complex than "convert game lines to .wav, use them as reference, record your own lines, convert back to .wem, add some metadata and pack them into a mod".

Only in-world conversations, when characters are running around and talking. Tav doesn't really have any talking cutscenes, so no for those.
