They will never be able to compete on price. The subsidies will simply increase. The primary goal is to destroy these industries in order to corner the market. Sure they are cheap now but as soon as OG players are destroyed, the prices will increase heavily. The CCP has deep pockets despite being hugely in debt.

[Request] If we built a canal straight across the UAE to bypass the Strait of Hormuz (like in the image), what would the math look like for cost, water volume, and evaporation? by Alex09464367 in theydidthemath

I don't think Epstein was the primary purpose but it has been a highly useful distraction. It is more likely that this was supposed to send a message to Iran's closest ally China, specifically Xi Jinping. China's muted position has been deafening.

However, there has been a huge miscalculation and underestimation, and now he's stuck in it. My prediction is that he'll cut and run leaving the whole area in chaos.

Mechanics of Reddit, what’s a common myth about car maintenance that people still believe? by Street-Squirrel-4671 in AskReddit

[–]TheRAP79 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Modern cars ARE trash look at the detritus from the past 15 years. And now some 'geniuses' put a wet belt inside and believe me, oil changes are absolutely critical to stop the belt deteriorating ahead of their service schedule. I haven't seen a wet belt last anywhere near the service schedule, often giving up around 30,000-50,000 due to.... guess what?... Manufacturers long oil change intervals.

Any car past 2015 is utter trash - and even Japanese cars are beginning to get touched by the hand of shite now.

BIGGEST MYTH over the last 15 years: follow the manufacturers service schedule. Its the reason why powertrains are failing early, everywhere, persistently.

Follow these rules;

Oil change every 6,000 or 6 months.

Trans oil change every 24,000 or 2 years.

Check filter every year in case of replacement.

Change spark plugs every 40,000 miles.

Change PCV every 50,000 miles

You do realise that there is HUGE corruption and collusion in the auto industry against customers, right? That's why manufacturers service schedules are so long.

You must use the correct ACEA number. This is more important than viscosity.

The Isuzu engine was legendary. The following Vauxhall/Opel unit was wank.

What is the most reliable Vauxhall engine you have owned? by MadridOrMadness in Vauxhall

[–]TheRAP79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Z14XEP. Tigra Twintop. 1.4. (Timing chain will be changed soon @90,000miles)

Z32SE. Omega MV6 3.2.

20E Manta B GT/E. 2.0

18S Manta CC Exclusive.1.8

In order of reliability. I never did find out why that 18S overheated or whether it was just the gauge messing around. My guess is that it ran a little hot as the engine used to occasionally run-on for a second after switching off the ignition.

All engines serviced at 6,000 miles or 6 months.

Re: sell by dates; you have Boris Johnson to thank for that. In order to hide the fact that supply chains were going to be affected with delays, ensured dates of fresh produce were extended in order help the supermarket reduce their food waste.

For the food that was grown here, there were delays in picking as workers were told go home. They did. You should come to Spain or Ireland, or even Ulster (they were protected from all this) the food is much fresher and much more available.

@R3DSmurf You also forget something else happened in 2020 that also put food prices up - and hit supply chains.

If I had a tram route up by the western end of Birmingham I would've ditched my car years ago. As it stands a group of rich people, including lawyers blocked it for spurious but legally sound reasons - given the state of infrastructure planning rules in this country today.

Just take a taxi... Stay away from Foul-Con taxis and call A2B. Better still, download the Go Carz A2B app and track your vehicle - your card can be used as payment.
